Title: MIG Welder and spot weld cutters
Post by: rodsterh on July 11, 2007, 10:44:45 PM
Found what I think is a bargain at Lowe’s. Lincoln Pro 140 MIG welder. This model is being discontinued and replaced with a new design selling for $524. The clearance price is $366. I don’t know if all Lowe’s still have them but I found one locally.

and

if anyone has any welding tips for a beginner…feel free to share them here. :D

I’ve heard welding with the shield gas is easier than with the flux core wire but will probably start with the flux core first.

and

anyone have a preference for spot weld cutters before I buy from Eastwood or Blair?

you want a spot weld cutter that will not walk on ya, which means not taking the cheap route.  Once you go gas, you'll never want to go back.  Advice?  practice practice practice.  get some s metal, and clamp them in different positions to see what it's like welding sideways, up, down, overhead, etc...good luck.

Thanks man....appreciate the info. I have to head off to the junkyard to find a big old hood to practice on and to use for some patch panels.
