Title: 1986 turbo coupe fuel pump harness
Post by: SLEEPER T-BIRD 87 on July 11, 2007, 07:37:05 PM
I dont know if this applies to 87-88 cars or just mine because it has an 86 harness

3 wires to the pump relay

yellow -12v constant

red - ?

pink-?

i can apply 12v to either the red or the pink and ground the other pole and the pump runs wich one is the 12v wire and wich is the ground.I need to wire it up to a toggle since i swapped to my blowthrough setup and dont want problems later.

I see that the pink from the relay goes to the + side of the pump.

and the red is 12v

and the yellow is 12v constant.

I guess i should had said i was at the harness were it connected to the pcm (3 pr0ng plug) just inside the kick panel.

ill keep studying this and see

its simple. the yellow wire comes from the fusable link and powers the eec relay and f/p relay it also goes to the computer and powers the keep alive memory always hot. the pink wire goes to the fuel pump + terminal. the red is switched hot off the ign switch. it powers the coil side of the relay through the inertia switch. the tan wire is the coil ground controlled by the computer. hope this helps. i have access to mitchel on demand so if you have anymore questions just ask.

now i understand you're question. the ground you want to switch is the tan wire w/lite green tracer. you want red to be switched off the ign switch run. the only thing with doing it this way is you have to leave the key in the run position for a few seconds before starting to build fuel pressure. also you might want to keep the inertia switch in line for safety. the yellow is going to be constant hot. you can run a 12 awg wire from the batt side of the solenoid. and the pink wire goes to the f/p hot. the orange wire is f/p ground. good luck.
