Title: K member install
Post by: brocksdad on July 09, 2007, 12:18:31 AM
I know I need to add a spacer to my mustang K member but does it go on the mounting point toward the front of the car or the rear of the car

you may also need to change the rear pad's bolt spacing. i did on mine. the tbird was narrower(bolts closer together) than the mustang k-member, jus the bolt spacin on each pad, not the frame rail width.

Forgive my ignorance, but why is a 3/8" spacer required?

you'll have a gap up front when you bolt up the rear bolts. its just weird like that.

I don't know much about this swap, is the Mustang K member lighter?, if so, how much? Any other advantages?

They are talking about aftermarket Mustang K-members.  None are made specifically for the TBirds, so you have to modify Mustang ones.

Yeah, was wondering if '87-'93 Mustang fit as these K members are ten lbs lighter, (w improved anti dive) than other Mustang K members..so if Tbird K member is heavier than Mustang K member, could be cheap upgrade that is only 18lbs heavier than most after market K members

I haven't checked directly with Griggs or Maximum yet. I have a feeling that theirs maybe Tbird design as they do list them seperately.
