Title: '86 vs 88 front springs...
Post by: *MAYHEM* on July 06, 2007, 07:43:25 AM
What is the actual difference in the '86 and '88 front springs? Will they interchange?

I'm pretty sure all years ('83-'88) of springs will interchange.

If anything, I would think there would be a different rate for springs depending on if you use V6 springs from the 86 insted of th e 88 V8 springs. But will they phisicaly interchange I'm with Brian, yes

The spring rates will be different depending mostly on the weight of the engine and since the earlier cars weigh a little less, they are probably slightly different... I still have the original 4cyl springs in my TC and it now sets approx 3/4" lower than stock...

BTW the rear are generally the same... The 5.0 Sport I junked had the same springs as most TCs... My car has different spring codes(front and rear), than most TCs Ive seen, what the differences are I dunno...

Thanks guys. I thought I remembered reading there was a difference in the springs but I guess I was wrong. Just ordered a set of Koni Sport springs off ebay.
