Well fella's I swapped out my 4.10 geared factory rear today for the one from my stang.I tried to get measurments of everything just so we have a record of the lenths.
ill try to describe each pic
old rear is shown out of the car here
:hick:
the donor rear
31 spline strange axles
5/8th studs
3.73 gear and full spool
moser girdle
C clip eliminators
and of course the southsides, lakewods, and solid uppers
stock upper and aftermarket mustang upper
now the lowers i measured these from center to center on the holes just as the top ones.
now the overall width these should be pretty close its hard to measure and take pics all by yourself.
now shock length
stock vs lakewoods at full extension
and a few on the ground
Im nto real happy with the ride height so far i plan on changing springs
I stuck with the mustang a control arms to try to change the wheel base and create more rear overhang to see what it does to effect traction if i cannot see a great gain i will lengthen them as needed to correct the wheelbase.
Keepin' the drums on there?
yeah there a little lighter
a few more
looks good, will be sweet once you lengthen the bars!
thanks
Is that a black notch stang in the backround of the first pic?
thats his stang the one the rear end came from, the one that the hood poped up on
I figured he had ANOTHER one floating around
nah,im trying to liquidate my car collection:hick:
I like the ride height. It looks funny with the short arms though.
thanks,So far it is an experiment
That ride height is from the mustang springs and shocks yes? Looks just like mine. And this last pic shows the slight sag you get front to back. I'm looking for Mustang front springs to pull the front down a bit.
If you like to corner , this is the ticket, I have been trying to force mine into a slide and cant. being that low it corners like it's on rails.
Meh on the drums. Get some discs for it.
I hate the look of drums through nice wheels.
Just get a dust shield then you don't see any brakes behind the nice wheels.
drums dont have drag like a disc does and for my inteneded use im better off with them.
kinda, but the rear springs have been cut ive got a set of stockers i am going to put in it.
went on a little test drive tonight you canfeel the differance in rigidness and movement between the two.
Car seems like it will hook well but im not going to get to make it to the track tommorow im going to go ahead and put my c4 in and quit playing around with this clutch that isnt going to hold the power.
:birdsmily:
you know, you dont have to buy running cars to get parts for the other ones. :hick:
MUCH better on BOTH cars ;)
sweet!!
Its kinda a hobby.
A little:sawzall:
then a little :welder:
then :brick:
I agree,it fits the birds lines better.
plus i need the room for my carb bonnet:evilgrin:
Makes a very nice looking T-bird. Tell me where you got the hood, before it was on the Cougar.
TED
it came off a limited street car I was told there isnt another like it its a VFN hood
Wow. You going to paint it or leave the flames? I can't wait to see what kinda times this thing puts down.
it looks like he already painted it
what size cowl is it?
its at least 6" if not 7"
ill probly paint the hood a little later
clearer pics
Looks good:D but how do you see over it?
Psht. Who needs to?
Looks great
WOW !!! nice!!!! i like the color scheme!!!
really, i drive with my eyes closed some times. seeing isnt that important when your driving
few random pics
more
one last one man and machine...
Now Russ, is this turning into a full blown race car... is is sure looking like one from the last pic man.
no it will always be street driven ;)
I don't think he has a problem seeing over it after seeing him stand next to it. :D
Car looks pretty wicked. Love the stance it has.
My personal fave is the imtimidation factor.
5.0 stang guy and come up " hey, nice hood, that thing got a V8?"
Russ " Nope, a 2.3T with a 4 barrel."
Looking great man. Wheels look really good on that car.
