That Should Be Better
Reading bearmax's posts makes my head hurt...
Mmm...not yet...keep trying. :)
Top weatherstripping: don't know yet. I pulled one of the smaller pieces off and found a GM part number stamped on it. It may be possible to order it through a dealership. Haven't had time to check on that, to be honest. The top, top motor, latches, top skeleton, side windows, side window motors, cylinders, and wiring are all from a 1980's Buick Riviera. Those side window motors are standard GM issue; I had one replaced last year, the glass shop had them in stock, brand new (not a reman).
If the top is slow to go up and down, you may be low on hydraulic fluid, or there could be a leak in one of the lines. Or the motor could be dying. Hard to tell really. After my motor was replaced a few years ago, I had to take it back to the shop a few times to burp the system, as air bubbles were preventing the top motor from working correctly. Eventually the system started working perfectly. But every spring, the first time I start to put the roof down, it is agonizingly slow and I can hear the fluid gurgling. After that, it's fine. You might just need to keep putting the roof up and down, just work the system, and it might start performing better.
There, it's done. Hope you don't mind, Eric, but I changed it to show the image you posted, where you posted it, so it's hosted on Coolcats :hick:

Thanks Guy's
eric do you know if we should have any kinda of book or any thing that came with them from car craft also how do i find the pruction num and how many were made in 85 if you know
According to the E-man's website it's unknown how many were made in 85, but there were at least 16.
I wasn't able to get definitive production numbers for 1985. When you open your driver's door there *should* be a tag affixed from Car Craft, with a number stamped on it. If you get that number and post it here I can tell you more.
851014 is what is on there as well as the date
OK, the 14 is your conversion number. I can tell you that #16 is also in Florida but I'm not sure where exactly, somewhere not far from Orlando. That's about all I know for the '85 Cougar convertibles.
sweet thank you
hey how do i check the fluid in the top pump and te window reg from an 87-88 wont work on my 85 will it
Power window setups are different between the early (83-86) and late (87-88) fox t-birds/cougars.
thanks
