Title: Here's one for ya...
Post by: TurboCoupe50 on June 24, 2007, 09:06:41 PM
My old lady running the Merc...

Wife went a best of 10.86(best ticket I can find shows 10.90) in the old 4.6 Grand Marquis today in the power puff race at Northeast Dragway down in NC... It slowed to 11.01-11.08 in the heat, so I dialed it a 11 flat... Made no difference, she lost first round due to red light, so we called it a day(was about 90*), flipped on the AC and headed back to VA...

The 1/4mi of course... :D  $hit's deep in here, hope you have a good set of hip waders... :hick:

The bruises will be gone in a week or two... (from me twisting her arm into going):beatyoass:  Was her first timed passes ever, she did drive down the track once at a Fairlane Club meet in the Cobra Jet... Actually she had a good time, just doesn't fare well in the heat or cold(think her thermostat is stuck)...

Not much chance there... Not a mod motor fan, won't touch them unless absolutely necessary... Other than oil changes and cleaning the mass air meter a couple times, it's run about 75K mi since the last tune up(55K or so, now has 128K)... Guess it's time...

Now if I could find a low millage, cream puff '90 Town Car with the 5.0, I'd be tempted to stick a 331/347 in it with a small SC...:D

Sounds like a lot of fun.  I asked my wife if she wanted to try to drive and she said NO, did not even think about it.

Didn't someone on another post say "11 in the 1/8 sucks" :hick:

Holy , that is my parents exact car! LOL

That is cool that she ran it.  What was her full 1/4 time and MPH?

It's a 1/8 mi track... MPH was 65.5 on the 10.90 run... You'll have to dig up a conversion chart for a 1/4 time...

Looks as if your parent's is the darker teal(blue/green), ours is China Blue(exactly as in pix)... Our wheels have the hex center cap... Swapped them from the '92 I sold almost 5 years ago...

Lol, I had a similar "event" a few weeks ago, track had their "night of Fire" (jet cars ,wheel standers, etc) so it was $20.00 to get in, just happens that was the same price as it was to run Trophy class, so I twisted her arm to run for free basically. Worst part is, I lost in the second round, she caught a bye with a .006 light to get into the third round (only to red light). so her first time out, she went a round further than me (in another class) with MY truck.

She still prefers a different place at the track ...................standing in victory lane with me holding the check :D :D :D
