all that I can say is my hook ups are alittle bit from the fire wall on the dirvers side. They were fairly easy to find. I found them my first time looking, and I never had seen them before. If you have the right scanner then you can find the shapes of the plug thingy's by looking at the scanner input thingy and just find wires that look like that.

Tomz... Please pick up a grammar book and read it....  My head hurts as well.  Ok, after regrouping....  The single wire usualy comes out of the same place on the harness as the big connector.  Unless you have untaped the harness for any reason it should be very close by.

I have not been able to find the wires to hook up a code scanner.  It was a few years ago when I last used it, but now its gone! I started having problems after I changed the driver side valve cover and pulled the upper intake. The car runs well, but hesitates and uses a lot more fuel. The engine light comes on sometimes and the car runs better, and sometimes engine light does not come on. When i first start it and the idle is bad, I just turn it off once or twice and the engine light comes on and the car idles better.  Any help is appreciated.  I had my silver cougar over 8 years, I think it may be an emission problem? A photo would be great.  I believe my wire got stuck under something or got cut off!

Is this some kind of inside thing? Did I miss something or does no one else understand either?

Tom, if I understand correctly you started having some issues AFTER replacing your valve cover gasket? You need to recheck your work as I think you've either forgot to hook something up or you broke a vacuum line?? Just a thought:)

Thank you very much  MasterBlaster for rhe photo. The single wire that I was looking for was behind the brake booster. Now I will be able to hook up a code scanner.
