Driver seat is spoken for, but I might have a set of blue to replace with. Not TC seats though

pull the front wheels off and take pictures of the inner wheel well and as much of the strut tower as you can and post them up on your other thread. that way if there is any rust at all, more people can determine if it's worth saving or not

Tomorow. it's not at my house but a fellow local members house. I'm waiting on him to send me pics tonight or I'll take them my self tomorow. It is lookin better to part it now as I'd rather to save the Fila and do it right. Even if I part this one, I've still got an ace up my sleeve

By the way,the door panels on the Bird we talked about are wasted.Sorry.I do have a set of grey Cougar panels that remind me of the upscale TC panels if you're interested.I have the lights, armrests, and map pockets.I have the straps as well, and i believe i have a set of screw cover caps.

I'd be interested in the front bumper cover if it's intact. I live near Pittsburgh so it wouldn't have to be shipped.

doors, ignition, trunk, glove box, all of them with keys to match.

are they original turbo keys, or recuts?
Title: TC is gone
Post by: 84 Fila on June 17, 2007, 02:10:43 PM
Original turbo keys. I'll try to pull the locks and be in touch. As for the welding, I'm all for saving the car but I need someone with a strut tower patch for me

Is it the same color? Any pics? IDK my interior is Raven so i would be completely changing the seats if i went this way. I really only need a drivers seat if i could find a good one. I will have to think about it.

Does the foam feel like its ripped?
As far as repairing that rust. I am all for fixing rust but that looks pretty bad there isnt any metal in the pic, that i can see, to weld a patch to.

Post by: 84 Fila on June 17, 2007, 02:28:07 PM
I'll put a whole new ****in strut tower in it if I have to. But no, it just feels "softer" on the seat. No tears, nothing like that.

I went & looked at this car just a bit ago with the Fila man... you could probably patch & weld, but it reeeeally isn't worth it.  The quarters are falling out of the car.  I opened up about a 3"x10" hole in the rear quarters with my hand.  He got a good deal for a parts car.

Oh, and vinnie, I checked out the console lid, it's in good shape and the latch even works.

Rest of the Int is in good condition also. Door panels look good, blue trim in the car looks good. I'm willing to let the suspention go also if it's worth my while. Only things I will NOT give up is the motor/trans/drive shaft and anything that goes with either of those. They are spoken for. I'm willing to trade for cirtin things also, so humor me with what ya got

I love confidence. Before I found the strut tower, I still would have junked it. There are parches of rust on nearly every sturctrual surface. No matter how nice the INT, trim and seats are, if the structure is gone, there is no saving it

Will a Locking Fuel Door from an 87-88 fit an 83-84?

We're considering using a sawzall to remove the front portion of the car to ease getting the motor & trans out.  Considering the Ohio weather has done half the work for us, I think it's doable.

I didn't even get a picture of how the driver's side rocker is rusted through from front to back nor how the floor pan is separated from the rocker.  This car is an odd duck for sure.  Body rotted to hell and very clean interior and good-running engine... sheesh.

It did sit under a pine tree fo no less then 6 years. I was told 7 by my GF who lives a block from where the car sat. I duno if that played into it or not. I just don't understand how it is amazling rusted yet it still runs pretty good. Or how one side is rusted to shiznit but the other isn't 1/2 as bad.

Cars and any kind of plant (Grass to trees - especialy sappy pines) do not go together. Why my cars are on the street until I get my driveway put in. I'm sure the pine had allot of say as to why it rusted that way, and the rest of the elements to boot, and BIRDS just love to ruin cars as well.

The last pic... anyone know what that harness is for?  The one it plugs into has two wires looped back on it.  It was located behind the dash near the cluster area.

That car doesn't have auto lamp does it?  That connector is how the auto lamp harness interfaced with the dash harness.  Remove the jumper and plug the harness in..  ;)
