don't ignore clunking. dropping a driveshaft is NOT fun.

Yeah, I did once in my 66 convertible. Luckily, it was the rear U-joint. I had a bad tailshaft bushing in my 4spd, had a shop replace it. For some odd reason, they removed both the low-mileage u-joints and replaced them at the same time. And did them wrong. I was going about 45mph, and felt a sudden, increasing vibration. Then BOOM!!!!  Bangbangbangbang until I got stopped. It broke and flopped around and beat the floorpans a bit. The early Mustang convertibles have a brace across the floors under the front seats that held the shaft from flopping too badly, but it still sounded like a grenade going off under the car.
