So did anyone go watch?

I have been antiting this "event" for a few years now, but it appears that the possibility of the car still being in good shape is not very good. :(
It looks like they should have put the car in an above ground tomb instead of burying it in the ground. :punchballs:
There was a foot or more of standing water in the vault and by the water lines on the walls, it appears that the car was totally submerged at one time.

holy shiznit!
I've also been watching this. They sealed the car using a special wrap and a vacuum bag, but I don't hold out much hope.
As you said, there are obvious lines of rust and sediment on the walls of the shell, and the multitude of those lines would indicate many, many different levels of water.
Also, the earth around that shell is largely composed of clay. This may have caused cracks to develop in the concrete walls of the structure.
Sadly, I don't hold out much hope for the car.
It's supposed to be live here (http://"http://www.kotv.com/special/buried-car/") tonight.
A guy the comes into the parts store I work at is always talking about this. So I kinda have half the story already.
I'm here in Oklahoma and have been following this for a long time.I wish I had the time to drive up there today.I hate working for a living. It keeps me from doing what I want.Although,it pays me money so i can do what i want. What a viscious circle !!!
to one I can relate. Gotta make money to spend money. Or as my cousin says: gotta work 8 hours to enjoy the next 16.
there is supposed to be a video of it unwrapped here (http://www.oklatravelnet.com)
That ain't lookin' too good...
im curious to how it will looked cleaned up
whats left of it, what was put in there as a time capsule is prob gone
watching the live feed
http://www.kotv.com/
that car is fuct
Notice how the rear end is sitting on the ground. I bet the entire undercarriage has been compromised.
anyone see it yet unveiled??
wow its dead
watching, too...dang commercials.
rear spring hangers and shocks are the first to go. the leafs themselves are probably intact. My Meteor was the same way, as it sat in a swampy area for 18 years.
i think its just amazing its in one peice for the most part, and can sit on its own weight after sitting that long in water!
i dont think its that bad some of coddintons crew wiped off some of the bumper and the chrome was as new.,i would like to see it once fully cleaned.
well the interior is shot, and i bet that motor will take alot before it ever runs again, not to mention the brakes, suspension, and possibly frame problems.
Ok, this is not working for me. Can someone help me out somehow?
News On 6 Coverage Of The Unveiling Of Tulsa's Belvedere

I had serious connectivity issues when I was watching the live video. 50% of the time the video player was "buffering." It reminds me of those awful days of RealPlayer and RealAudio. I'm assuming their website can't handle the demand it's receiving.
I'm just going to wait for the photos to surface.

Who else is thinking about Christine? After all, the car they used in the film was either a '58 Belvedere or a '58 Fury. I think the difference between the two was that one was a two-door and the other a four-door.

Wonder if Golden Jubilee, Inc. is still around.
These folks sound like they have a good perspective of all this:

Thanks for posting those. Still can't find anything anywhere on the net.
maybe someone will try to restore it?
I don't think there is anything to restore.
Maybe put the glass on another car.
Unless the old steel is just so thick it hasn't rusted through, I think this one is junk.
Had and old neighbor who would have said "take off the radiator cap and drive another car under it".
It'll fix itself ;)
a powerwash it will be good as new, just dont look inside! it will all buff right out
Actualy the cars were mostly 58 Belvederes. Fury's only came in white and gold;)
Hell, Boyd's there and he does wonders with builds in an hour show, he'll have it ready in a jiff. LOL! :hick: :D
Be interesting to see what it looks like cleaned up. The interior and drivetrain is obviously trash, but the body might not be too bad...
Kinda makes you wonder what other time capsules are out there.
what a beaut!

i live right down the street from a guy that inherited a 10 acre lot with cars from the 30's all the way till the 80's and some 90's. the bulk is lead sleds. that car with the mud caked on it looks like one of the worst examples like that i've seen. i'd like to see it pressure washed to see what it really looks like. the guy with the junk yard, JUST opened the doors (gotta contact him first) and he's got houses on his lot, sheds, you name it, even cars, FULL of trim parts, engines, heads you name it. he every once and a while fishes good sheetmetal out of the yard, b/c he's restored a 30ish fleetside truck, and he just put a studabaker front end on a 83ish el camino... i know sounds like a mutt mixed with a mutt... still looks good.
I want to see it cleaned up. Looks like hell now but I notice the windows look just as bad. the sedement thats on the glass is the same thats on the rest of the body,,, and in some of those pictures I'm sure I see "some" color under there.
That thing is way beyond cleaning up. It looks like it was pulled out of the river.
wow...
That didn't go too well... :hick:
Basically, it WAS pulled out of a river, or rather small pond.
Submerged for 50 years.....
You know if someone from Meguiars or Mothers stepped up to try to clean and detail this thing and succeeded, it would be a hell of a promotional piece.
I think it is wonderful, I always love this kind of stuff.
I like the idea they had, just not the execution.
It is like finding old cars in barns, etc. I love the mystery of finding something forgotten, but this one didn't have a great outcome.
No, it's a pity that the car was so damaged. I guess the lesson learned is that if you want to bury a car, don't do it below the water table :hick: Maybe in a concrete crypt or something. Would've been pretty cool if the car had emerged in mint shape
They need to just put it back in the hole and fill it with concrete....
Incase some of you young-ins don't get all the *Christine* jokes here ya go;)
