a little elbow grease and some time can do for a car. :hick: Polished my etremely corroded headlights. I first sanded them with 320, then 600, 1000, 1500, and finally 2000 grit sand paper, then clearcoated em. I am VERY impressed with the results. WAY better night time vision now. I also installed my pony's last night too. Thanks again Chris!
Nice work on the lights and the pony's look sweet on there.
Nice work on the lights :D Wheels look good on the car too!
Did you receive my letter yet in the mail???
John
now wheres scoop number 2! looks awesome man!!!!
Lookin HOT man. I love the body mods on your car. I'm too chicken to make Layla look anything other then stock (makes for a better sleeper :D )
You body guys make me sick! :P
Nice work man, the ponys (even though I not a big fan of them) look awesome on there.
Just couldn't wait to get them on there eh ron, lol.
Glad you like them.
Headlights look alot better now than they did last night.
Now all ya gotta do is get that other side scoop on and paint her up.
Should look super nice when yer done.
Looking good :D
The more I look at your car,the more I think it doesn't need a second fender scoop. The one scoop gives the cart a functional race look (I know it's functional.).I like it with one scoop.Serious business with the one.
thanks guys. At first I didn't think I would like them either, but after putting them on and cleaning them up, I love them.
Yeah chris, I was out there at midnight with a flashlight, switching the rims and pulled the headlights and polished them in the bath tub. Then I went out cruising til 2AM LOL. WHAT a huge difference at night! and daylight it just looks so much better. I have a party to go to all weekend long but I should be able to get the other scoop made up, and in, by next weeks show.
And speaking of that.... yes John, check your PMs, your package will be in the mail tomorrow. ;)
Sorry Ron, I had the puter off all day. I was finishing up with the electrical upgrades in the kitchen. I sent you a PM, Thaks again. Talk at you later
John
time for a sig update
I made a set of clear corners with a bit of a custom touch, also did the same thing inside the headlights.
Very nice work! I love the way they turned out!
Never been overly impressed with the clear lenses but here it's really working for me.
Dunno if it's the lighter color (primer) or what, but that looks great.
Those turned out mint ron,did you end up croming the insides of the headlamps or is that what was under the yellowness, lol.
Clear corners are much nicer lookin than the orange reflectors.
Thanks guys.
haha, I figured you would like them Chris, that is what alot of sanding can do for these things. While I had the lens' apart, I took some black vinyl and put on the bottom of the lens' to give it a darker look to it. turned out really good I think.
Going to be hard to finish the bird myself though, as I got called back to work starting thursday. I am working my butt off right now triing to finish that dang cowl hood, then I will get the other scoop in it.
THAT must be it! I see it now and yes thats what set's it off from just basic clear
I like it!
looks really good!
nice work!!
Looks awesome. I need to finish up mine.
Looking good. Wish I was that close to havin mine look good.
That looks sweet:D
what do you guys use to glue the lense back on ?
I used clear silicone.
, that second pic looks mean as hell. Great shot. Love the newly polished lights. Man your car is quickly becoming badass!
Wow does that ever look bad ass! You've inspired me, I'm gonna go clean mine up today!
What kind of clear coat did you use and how many cans? Also for removing the reflector did you just remove it and not replace it with anything? And what kind of vinyl did you use for the inside of the lights?
Thanks guys, :o But wait til the 351  is in it to call it bad ass, LOL. ;)
I use a can of that high heat engine clear coat by duplicolor, removed the reflector and use 5 year vinyl from a decal shop that I cut myself to fit, from transfers I made. then siliconed it back together.
When you pull the amber reflector, is there a hole left?
The clear is for the light after polishing?
yeah after to wet sand it with the 2000 grit paper, dry it well and cear coat it. For updated pics of my car check out the users rides section ;)
And no there shouldn't be a hole.
I'm still rounding up materials for my headlights. It seems that my right headlight blows up everytime it rains and apparently I have about 2 inches of water in both lights. Any suggestions to getting the broken halogen glass out of the housing?
I don't have a Dremel...
Also for the sanding at what point does the grit of sand paper become "wet sanding paper"? And what would you use other than water for wet sanding? I've heard of a little bit of soap added to the water makes the job easier or is this just for autobody work?
if your lights have that much water in them, they will probably fall apart with a slight tug.no dremel needed. or use a screwdriver between the housing and lens anmd gently twist it to seperate them.
As for the sand paper. use waterproof sand paper, and it ususally starts at 320grit and goes up from there. add some soap if you are using a bucket but I used a hose and squirted fresh water every little bit.
