Title: Stripping COMPLETE 1987 TBird Sport (5.0/AOD/2.73trac-loc) CHEAP!!!!
Post by: P71 on June 11, 2007, 10:05:17 PM
I am now starting to strip my Sport (Oxford White/Shadow Blue cloth). I bought it a few months a few for cheap out of a guys yard (it was stuck on a rock). It has been jumped/hit/something bad and has severe uni-body damage. The passenger door area is intruded almost 5". The car is physically bent (driver's side is 105" wheelbase, passenger is 104.5") and is not fixable. The passenger 1/4 is wrinkled and the control arm boxes are punched through. Sad, sad, sad story but I will be stripping every last nut, bolt, and screw. Since I only have about $350 in this car, everything is going CHEAP. Basically make it worth my time and it's yours. Prices do NOT include shipping. Make offers on PACKAGE deals. I plan on being done by August 1st so buy it all quick, and cheap. I have over 30 pics available right now, and can take pics of any SPECIFIC items. Here's a few:

headlights - $40/pair
outer corner lights - $30/pair
cornering lamps with moldings - $35/pair
front bumper cover - $20 (will not ship)
rear bumper cover - $25 (nice, no cracks)
UNCRACKED dash - $150 firm
a-pillars, rockers, kick panels, c-pillars, misc grills/clips/covers - $5 each
Door panels - $50/pair, complete
rear panels - $10/pair, free with door panels
center console - $50
dash face - $15
radio surround - $15
gauges (Star Wars Digital, work perfect) - $50
trunklid - $30 (rust free)
1/4 windows - $10 each
NON lit c-pillar panels - $20/pair
new looking alternator - $10
front plate bracket - $25

ALL other parts available. Please post, PM, or email with needs.

SOLD (payed for, shipped, and gone)
Front and rear swaybars (TC sized :hick: )
driver's side seatbelt and buckle

Last 3 for now. If you would like a specific pic please ask. The car is LOADED. Power mirrors, locks, windows, dual seats, power recline, EATC, auto-dim, etc, etc and it all works. A/C supposedly worked and blew ice cold. It does not start but it will turn over. It has air, fuel, spark, and the timing is dead-nuts. I replaced the ECM with one from Vinnie but no dice. Tranny is supposedly good as well. Rear is a 8.8" 2.73 trac-loc with the 10" drums.

daboss has claimed the fuel lines and I will be pulling them tomorrow (if it doesn't rain before my final).

hey mike you got a fuel pump hanger and a fuel leval float? The fuel pump hanger doesn't need to have a pump hooked to it. My pump is good but the hanger is shot. Rusted beond repair. same with the fuel float. i touched that thing lighly and it just fell apart! But the tank size is a 20 gallon. not sure if thats relevant or not.

88sportcoupe - $75 shipped for all the trim and the clips. It will be a long box :D

ZondaC12 - $10 shipped. I have no idea how it is compared to yours but it looks decent?

Cougar8775 - If it's not bad in this one I'll sell it. This car has the full star wars gauges so you'll have to ask Eric if the float will work.

You said it had like 130k miles or so? How's the motor run, if at all? What would you make of a day pulling the rear off and throwing on my car (no way of transporting parts or installing it down here unless I get my dad to drive down and pick it up...would install in Federal Way)? I have no idea how hard it is to swap the rears, but I know you have plenty of experience with pulling them.

I'd pull it, but no way am I doing a re-install in the driveway. The last car I took the rear out of I had to cut the uppers in half.

The motor does not run, and I have no idea why/why not.

Thats fine, I'll see about getting my dad down there or something. How much for the entire thing? I'll try to pull together some cash, since that thing "should" swap in almost problem free in an afternoon.

Worse comes to worse, I'll have to find a TC rear between Olympia and Seattle and deal with the new brakes.

He mentioned it having the 8.8" rear 2 weeks ago when I was up at his place, it peaked my interest then. Depending on if I can get my dad to drive down (110 miles each way, not many but still a few) to bring it to his house, then I'll likely get it. Otherwise, I'm not sure...I'm sure Michael would pull any brake parts.

Can't get a hold of my dad right at the moment, so not sure how this will turn out.

Alright, picking up the rear for sure, and I'm going to find out if he wants the motor. FINALLY, after all these years (car's been in family since 91, rear end has made noise since then, just slowly getting louder and louder) I can have a quiet ride.

and this will give me a chance to check them bolts down there (we put new ujoints in 2 years ago)...in reference to the other thread of loosening bolts.

Friday evening sound good? I'll get a specific time, but it may not be 100% accurate since he has to commute from Seattle after work (he finishes around 3-4 I think). It really depends where his job is at on Friday. I'll be meeting up with him there, then driving back to Seattle to install on Saturday (I only have basic tools here, he has everything, plus some)

If you need more time, let me know. Its either next weekend or the following, then two weeks of no possibility. He's going to pass on the motor, since he only wants to find a core.

Ummm, that IS the artificial brushed metal pieces? If you want the real thing, you'll have to design it yourself.

I was in a T-Bird the other day and it had more of a aluminum look to it.  I was going to get it but it didn't have the console.

How much for the AOD, how many miles are on it?? I also need the headlight housings, let me see how much i've got left at the end of next week though. Money talks right?? Also, what wheels are on it. Im looking for a set of 15'' wheels, dont really care about the condition just need a winter set.

Oooo, I know, I know! Car has 13x,xxx miles so take your guess on the miles on the aod. Not sure on headlights, but they'd cost as much to ship as they're worth. It has the 14" 8 hole rims as seen on the first page.

The aluminum TBird stuff is what's in the car, same as a TC. I *did* have a consolette version, but it just sold today. The PayPal is pending.

I will, however, sell the console cheap too :hick:

HOW MUCH FOR THE AOD!

$100 plus shipping for the AOD and torque convertor. I'm in no rush to sell the engine or trans.

$40 shipped for the headlights with buckets.

Wow, excuse me for trying to answer some questions before Michael got back on the board. I've seen the car in person and have the rear end out of it so I already know the mileage and what rims are/were on the thing. Guess I should stop trying to help.
