Title: Project "Phoenix" update....
Post by: vinnietbird on June 11, 2007, 01:51:53 PM
O.K.,pics this evening when I e-mail the to Fila, and he posts them for me (He's a great guy).I'm going to the ler shop in about an hour to have my Stang til pipes and "secret" exhaust tips installed (you guys will love them).I added the front fender lights after cutting the fenders, installed my tranny cooler (still have to run the lines),installed the dead pedal, and did the rear bumper work.I'm still doing body work as time allows.I have new door locks and new door handles that will go on after paint this August.Stay tuned for pics this evening.

You realize you misspelled "Phoenix," right?

I've seen it spelled both ways....which way is correct?

I always thought "Phoenix" would be pr0nounced Foe-nicks.  :hick:

I've only seen it as "Phoenix."
I wasn't trying to be negative, but I would hate to see him get custom plates or a windshield banner with that particular spelling.

Hmmmm yeah that would suck to have banners with the wrong spelling hahaha.

"Phoenix".My fault. The tails and tips are on.I'll ask Fila to post a few for me.Now that they are done, they are not Benz tips. They are for an Australian Ford falcon.Chrome plated with rolled edges (I hate flat cut edges,it looks like it's not "finished").The car is a LOT more quiet now. That makes me happy. The drone of the warlock lers dumping right in front of the axle was killing me.You could feel it.The machine shop said he'd have my heads ready by July 1st.I'm still in waiting for my valvebody.I called about that and the guy said he didn't remember me bringing it.This is going to be resolved quickly.

That exhaust looks so awesome.

The exhaust tips were bought from E-bay Australia.Genuine Ford parts.A couple of the shots barely show the tranny cooler I installed in front of the radiator Saturday.Took a little while to determine how to mount it and keep it looking factory. Finally figured that out after about an hour of trying this and that.I installed the dead pedal while I was doing everything else.It fit great, looks factory (which I like),and I haven't tried it yet because I forgot it was there today.I'll try to remember it next time. The interior is almost finished. On the table is my new adjustable FPR,new door handles,NOS ignition tumbler and door locks,High Performance 302 valve cover stickers (more genuine Ford parts) a metal I.D./info plate (I'll have it laser engraved when the car is finished). It has color, engine type, horsepower, builder, tranny, everything, twist locks for the hood (like the old Mach 1 Stangs). The hood locks are also genuine Ford parts from Australia.they were designed for the Ford falcon as well. They will be fully functional as they were designed. There are two Cobra emblems for the fenders I bought about 5 years ago.Still not sure I'll use them....probably not.I also have two Australian FPV badges with the Ford Falcon Superbird emblem (yes, that's what it's called). The car looks like  now,but it's actually getting very close to paint.I'm working out a few more small dings and a lot more sanding, then off to paint.I have a new JVC stereo with remote on the way (ordered one for my daughter's car,and my own). One step at a time.My wife wants the car painted by the time school starts. The color will be "Estate Green".It's a Ford SUV color.Kind of an olive green with metal flake. The trim between the front and rear wheels will be left off.If I change my mind,I can always go back and install it later.I'll pull the mirrors and sand them withh 1000,1500,and 2000 grit (wet-or-dry) and then polish them with some Mother's Billet polish. It'll give them a high gloss shine without paint,so,no chips from rocks. That's about all I can think of for now.I have a lot of prep work to do.

Wow, the wife is giving YOU an excuse to get more work done?  SWEET!  The car is gonna be awesome.  Have you decided on the color and/or design?

No connections,I just look around and ask a LOT of questions.I have the business card from the people I got the new hood locks from. They restore the old Falcons.I'm sure they may be able to help you.I'll look for the card and give you the info.

The Car will be Estate Green.A Ford SUV color.I really don't think I'll install a spoiler, but,I'm going to have them paint one for my car in case I change my mind down the road. That way,no paint matching,no hassle. It'll be stored in the garage as a "just-in-case".The scoops and the header panel will also be painted off of the car.I want good coverage. The lights will be removed as well as the side trim.

Green...that'll be different.  I'm not a huge fan of green, but it can look really nice on certain cars.  And after all the good work you've done so far, I'm sure this'll be one of those certain cars :) .

It's a very "easy" shade of green. Not dark at all,not lime color.Just a very subtle color.I like subtle, and being able to take care of business easily.Once the heads, valve body, and torque converter are in,it'll be a whole new world.the car is already quick, but I want brutal in a surprising way.I really don't want it to get noticed until the second look. You'll see.
I got my Raven seats (front and back) for $150.00 from a guy on E-bay.They didn't mean anything to him obviously. If I ever find a set of all grey seats with the same functions (lumbar, adjustable side bolsters, front knee support),I'll swap them in.These seats were in great shape so I got them.I prefer grey, though.I'll find a set someday.I'm very patient.
I notched the bumper, bumper brackets and bumper cover to stick those tips up there. My blue car was the same way, except it had 3 inch rolled angle cut round tips.I like the bumper like that.I came up with that about 5 years ago. It'll look a lot better when the car is painted.Right now, with all those colors and  going on,the car looks horrible. It's actually very straight and solid. No rattles,no major damage, never been wrecked.I just have to bring back the car's good side.

Nice.  Digging the tips definitely.  I'd kinda shy away from using the cobra badges.  I like the new looking interior too.  Good job.

The biggest problem with finding the interior is the price of shipping or even finding someone that will ship them. Its looking good. I need to start my bodywork but i want to fix the rust first.

That exhaust looks awesome! The color you said you want to use will look awesome on your car. Im excited to see this thing. You need vids of the exhaust. I wanna hear it!

I'll see what I can do about the exhaust video. The Cobra badges were for an idea I had with the blue car. This car is meant to be subtle, but effective. They will remain in the Ford bags.According to the paint chip book,Estate Green that I want is lighter than that color on the previous page in the pic.Almost an olive green.I have the paint code numbers and info. Each day after work I'll be sanding and prepping the car for the new color.

Thats alot darker than I thought. I was thinking a light shade of green. That will look sick with your silver wheels and exhaust. Its gonna be an awesome car, even though it already is lol.
