Title: Aod Blues
Post by: Ford Fan on June 11, 2007, 11:48:59 AM
Can anyone tell me what burns up in an AOD when the T.V. Cable breaks. Would not come out of 1st when I bought it. Just pulled the Tranny... New torque converter inside... I am going to rebuild it and add a shift kit. Looking for advice on what rebuild kit I need?

Thanks Turbo,  I will check that out. I have not seen that mentioned anywhere else. I was told the previous owner drove the car home stuck in 1st (20 + miles!) if you can believe that... Car was smoking when they parked it and they never did anything else with it. Pretty sure there is damage inside. I am tearing it down tomorrow. Did not find  anything in the fluid and it really did not appear to be burned.

With the column shift, the TV cable moves to "full on", so they won't shift till well past 4000 RPM... Generally this does NOT burn up the transmission....
