Title: Buzz Buzz Buzz Buzz Buzz Errr Buzzzz
Post by: CougarSE on January 31, 2005, 11:31:52 PM
Well I've recently bought my first cougar, its just about ready drive except for one little anoying problem.  One of the buzzers stays on all the time.  I only hear two buzzers, one just goes dong....dong....dong a couple of time then it quits when I start the car.  The other just buzzes very sick sounding all the time,  UNTIL I turn the wipers on then it goes away.  I'm hoping the buzzer is just bad.  Has anyone else experianced this kinda problem?

I bet you wiper arms don't go all the way down do they? Every once in a while mine will do that, the arms will not go all the way down when I turn off the wipers and it buzzes. I think it might be the wiper motor, or perhaps the switch. It hasn't been doing it lately so I really haven't looked into it.

Errrr,  ,  No they dont, they never do.  They are always up kinda on the windshield.  I'll have to look into that tommorow.

Well I unpluged the wiper motor to check,  when I got in the car the dong dong dong was still there but the buzzer was off, even when I started the car it stayed off.  I'm guessing my wiper motor park is bad..  I'll pull it out and let you all know.

Update!

Pulled wiper motor off of car and found a little problem.
When the arm goes around it pushes a plate back and forth that I guess makes contact and tells it to park, well the raised parts that the arm moves are worn down on mine and it doesn't work right.  Also the body of my wiper motor is electricaly hot.  If i touched it on the body it would spark. seems it is shorting out inside.

I doubt it's shorting inside, you probably just have a bad ground to the motor (a bad ground will cause the body to appear "hot"). Install a ground strap between the motor and the body and your problems will probably go away

Well that makes sense but,  the peice that is moved back and forth under the arm is worn badly as well.
