Well, I finially got the 460 TC registered and put the TRXs on for a road test. Everything went well.
Wheel vibration was not an issue.
Project successful....now for shorter front A-arms and rear axles.

looks good
Man that car makes me jealous. Looks great!
wow, very nice..................no tire rub in the rear?
Bird looks great!
I can understand. I noticed you have 2 birds w/460's in em'. SWEET!
that looks good. Those are some big meats on the back.
Man, how do you insure all those vehicles?
He must be rich.
So yeah...can I have in too? In your drug empire, I mean ;) .
Looks pissed. Great stance. Glad everything worked out.
What are you going to do for rear axles? I used a set for a Mustang on the rear from superior (31 spline), did away with the ABS and moved the calipers in. Works great.
Wheels look great.

Wow, they turned out beautifully. I'd love to do that to the original set I have from the '86.
Only 4 are insured. The other 3 are in storage awaiting engine swaps ......460 ????
Mustang Fox axles for sure. Should bring the rear in 3/4 in. and then use a 5/16 spacer to put it dead on.
I do get a hair of tire rub when I hit a bump when going too fast. moving the wheel back in 5/16 in. should cure that and let me lower it down a bit.
To get the disc brakes to line up you can remount the brackets on the back side by cutting out a piece and removing the stock brace. Then use washers between the housing and bracket to get it to line up right. I think I just used the original washers that were on there.
The center picture is the original mounting and shows the angle bracket. The third picture shows the chunk I removed.
This was in Jan of 2004, seems like yesterday.

Interesting...thanks for the photos. These are the first pics I have seen of how to do this.
Funny.....actually all 5 of the T-Birds I have were bought with bad engines. That is my favorite way to get something cheap.
The 83 Heritage was my 1st with a running (but ticking) 302 in 1992.
I have bought 23 Fox T-birds since.:D :D
Only the Lightning and the Mark VII (was given to my daughter) were running perfectly when I bought them.
Those TRX wheels are hotness. They'd look like shag on a black '84 XR-7...
i HATED my TRX when i bought my car. but after they sat there for a while i like'd them more an more. then i went to get new tires, HA! no thanks. I love the polish and i would love to do that if i had the time/money and an extra set of TRX ( like to keep all my original parts)
Cool. I wish someone would make those in a 15" size.
More photos of the finished project with M&H 325-45-17 Drag Radials on the rear and 225-50-16 tires on the front.

Are the 225/50/16 tires on the TRX wheels? (I thought TRX wheels were roughly 16.5"..)
Or am I getting pictures confused?
Either way, that looks wicked, I really like the way they look polished.
Wanna adopt me........
Read, and wow...makes that set of TRX's on my storage look all the more enticing...hmmm.
yeah, after looking a LOT closer at the pics, I can see it straight off.
Kudos, those ARE bad-ass.
very very nice
Thanks everyone for the compliments.
The TC ran the same with these wheels at the track as it did with the factory 16 x 7 TC wheels.
Mind if I steal a couple of these pics for the calendar cover page?
Wow... I've never seen TRX's look that good. How 'bout some engine shots, I can't recall ever seeing it before.
dont know if anyone has asked but how heavy are they?
Go for it!
I will try to post some more I shot the same day.
Alan
Funny you should ask....I weighed both sets ( factory 16 in TC and the TRX combos...the total weight of each set were the same, so that is why the car ran the same at the dragstrip.
Alan
More TRX shots and 3 engine shots (these are shots of the "old worn out engine")
Next year the plans are to have the new engine on the stand in the car.
The headers were designed to be reversable for rear exit and when the times comes, I will turn them around and mount a single or twin turbos up inside the front bumper.

Wow... Awesome car, I can't believe how well the 460 fits in there. Nice photography too!
Now that's what i am talking about....HELL YEAH !!!!! All them cubes under the stock hood............ooohhh boy what a surprise for some dumbass kid who ends up messing with you. You need a camera crew to follow you around and catch the looks on their faces. SURPRISE. wew, I can smell the FORD power from here.
One of the nicest TC's around and the 460 must be nice.
What motor mounts did you use? And did you need a different oil pan to make it fit?
Hory Jeebus! Those wheels look fantastic on there.
The motor mounts are solid customs I made myself to fit the unique 87-88 Bird/Cougar k-frame.
They allowed me to lower the engine 1 inch lower than the FRPP mounts in our 83 460 Bird.
When the 514 goes in, I want to use the same mounts, but I think those giant 2 1/8th Kooks headers may hit tho. If they do I have an engine plate ready to go.
Oil Pan is a stock 83-97 F-250/F350 truck pan (same as FRPP swap pan.)
The 514 will have a Canton.
