nice little Z28
daaaaaaaaang yall get your mullet on!
305 ewwwww
My dad's 85 T/A has a 305 and it runs just as strong as my 302 HO. A few less hp, but the car has better gears, so it's pretty equal.
2....666.06 Evil!!!!
Looks good.
I don't know 80's Z28s or IROCs always make me think one thing: Red Neck :hick:
:hick: :shakeass:
i seen a iroc at a burn out ocntest once, with a 305, roasted them at a constant 4k till he shot the rod straight out the pan. I about died laughing, next up was a big ol bronco with big ass tires, kicked that irocs ass as far as a burn out, and drove way
I've been to a few of these "tire-fries"..and most have been won by big, slow, torquey engines...such as found in Bronco's. Or else well built engines.
So he threw a rod? Big whoop. Seen lots of other brands throw rods
too. Doesn't mean shiznit Holmes. Did his oil pump quit? Did he even have oil in the thing? Coolant!?
So I guess because my 3.8 busted a rod, and THEN caught on fire...IT'S a piece of shiznit to make stereotyped fun of?
Then again....305's aren't known for HG failures. :hick:
Way I see it, that IROC would make a good candidate for an LT1 swap...
A friend I used to work with had an IROC-Z with a built 400, that thing was pretty mean. Guy that she bought it from had won trophies with that car after he dropped the 400 in it.
...says the guy with the '88 Tbird and '81 Fairmont. :hick:
As a previous 305 owner, I couldn't agree more. The biggest hicup in SBC history.
Ive never seen a guy with a mullet driving a tbird or a fairmont.
Never in a Mustang either, right? Come on, man. We're all driving mullettmobiles, no matter how short we keep our hair.
*sigh*
If I had a choice, I would have gotten into thirdgen f-bodies rather than thunderbirds.
Looks like the attitude is the same on both sides of the fence.
If I knew my Aunt was selling this one I would have bought it instead of the 96 Thunderbird.
but guys its a chevy.
What in gods name is happening to this forum?
Sorry............ it has been a very slow day.
That brings back memories. I used to cruise around Edmonton with my older cousin when I was a teen in his '89 Z28. White/gold auto with a cross-fire. I was amazed with the car and it is the reason I got bitten by the RWD full size domestic coupe bug. Up until that point I was all about my Subarus and VW's.
No, there are so many
other reasons. ;)
I think my neighbor is the reason that I associate red 3rd Gen. F-bodys with mullets and rednecks. Why must stereotypes be true sometimes?
no it was fun it shot the rod out the pan, and dumped oil EVERYWHERE. It was GREAT!!
I had a second gen '76 Camaro. Now THAT was a mullet mobile.
If I could have afforded a decent one, I would have been driving an '80s Camaro or Firebird.
Cougars had been on back of my mind and truthfully weren't even thought of until I spotted mine in the Classifieds.
Needs an LS2 under the hood.......
I owned a '79 Firebird with a 305 in it. I was always embarrased to be seen driving it. I didn't like the way it looked and it was a real dog - I never raced anybody in it as I didn't want to be embarrased. If my aunt hadn't sold it to me for a song when I was short on cash while in college, I wouldn't even have considered it. It was nothing like my '69 GTO musclecar (where I originally formed my fondness for Pontiacs). I replaced it with my first Cougar (the '83) and have been a happy Ford man since.
My buddy has a '77 Firebird with a 400 Ram Air IV Pontiac. Looks like (he's in the process of repainting it) but goes like hell:hick:
I like it. I'm not a big fan of red cars but I had a '84 Z28 5.0 HO 5 speed when I was in high school. Mine was tan with gold ground effects with the same style interior only tan in color and had t-tops. When I bought it there was only 59k on it. Very fun car, too much fun maybe. 305's aren't all that bad. Valve seals wore out quickly and they had soft cams that wore quick as well. I put a Comp Cams Extreme Energy 262/270* .462/.469" a Weiand stealth intake and a carter 625 with shorty headers and flowmaster single 3" on it. Ask anyone that has seen that car run and you will not hear anything bad about that 305. It could clean the 255/50/16 tires in every gear except 5th
Hmm, it is clean, and that is the wierdest speedo I've ever seen.
My buddy had a 92 with a 305, and he had 4.08''s in it with a posi and cat-back. It did alright for itself. Faster than my Bird of course. Then I got the T/A and gave him a ride and he was like "Dear God"... saved up to swap an LS1 into it but sold it right before and used the money to buy a Jeep. Strange guy, don't talk to him much anymore, but he loved that car, then overnight sold it to another friend for beans.
You're right. That
is strange. If it went higher than 140 I'd actually like it.
i could probably beat out a camaro in a burnout contest with my bronco:hick: but my tires are too expensive to even think about it.
my mom had a Z28 like that when i first got my licence.. i uh, kinda blew it up:D.
Its sold now. Went to some car lot in texas. She got $10K for it.
