Just like the title says. I have all My parts for a manual regulator conversion except the glass. I tried drilling holes with a glass bit but that didn't work...It was a shattering experiance:hick:
The windows are different between auto and manual door glass??
Yep... the manuals have two holes for mounting (at least the 83' to 86') and the power glass has the siliconed-on tabs.
Oh,now I see.I'll check around for you.I took a piece of glass (totally non car related) to a glass shop(Installed windows, cut mirrors, etc.),and they can drill holes in glas.they have the specialized equipment to that.
you got your manual regulators from an 83-86? then you can use power glass from a 83-86 then as they are diffrent from 87-88
I had the glass from the car I took the regulators from, but they would not fit the 87' tracks. The older glass is shaped slightly different; for instance the top rear corner of the 87' glass is round, the older manual regulator glass is 90 deg. sqaured. Also, the older glass is about a 1/4 inch longer....
well that sucks, the 1\4 longer shouldnt be a prob because the 83-86 doors have a larger window opening than the 87-88 so if you could get around the corner deal you should be fine.
Is there a way to adapt the '87/'88 window clips to the manual window regulators?Drill a hole in them to accept the '87/'88 clips?Just a thought.Finding manual windows for an '87/'88 is probably going to be pretty hard.
I was just thinking that as an option...I'll give it a shot.
Depending on the location of the clips on the glass as opposed to the lifts of theregulator, you may have to remove the clips and repostion them.No big deal.
