Installed a new distributor,new front brakes,5 speed Stang computer,new plugs,figured out where the tranny cooler is going to be installed tomorrow,and got out all my parts to install my door panels as well tomorrow.Oh,and I cleaned my Cobra R wheels.they were getting a little nasty.So,now I have beautiful wheels and a multi-colored,semi primered,body work in progress car.....but the wheels look good.LOL.

I was just bored,wanted to work on the car,but not really have to apply myself much.Just easy stuff.Like tomorow,I'll drill two holes,mount the tranny cooler,and call it good.I'm in no hurry.Every little project finished is one step closer to the finished product.My heads and valvebody will go on soon,then,track time for a test run and see what progress I really made.,
You know it would get done faster if you worked on it more, lol. I keep doing the samething with my '85 Cougar. I just slowly pick away at it, piece by piece.

It really helps when you're not relying on it for a daily driver, doesn't it? My car would not even be close to where it is now if I had to drive it every day. But then again, at least it'd be drivable...
I DO drive mine every day....well,most every day.With gas getting so high,I may buy a new bicycle and ride to work.I'm only a mile away going through the neighborhood.Tomorrow I'll get a few more things done.Every step is one step closer.I have all the time in the world.I'm in no hurry.

Generally,what you put in to it,you'll get out of it.Meaning the quality of work.I see people throw dollar after dollar in to a car and still have nothing because there's no planning invlved.If you take your time,think about everything you're doing,and how you're doing it,it helps.I write everything down.I may have siad this before.I have a notebook.It has 4 sections....
"What I want to accomplish"
"What parts I need to do what I want"
"What parts I have"
"What parts I want"
The needs come first,unless I come across a "want" that is free from trading or whatever,or ultra cheap.Like the Stang 3.55 geared 8.8 I picked up.Itt was fully rebuilt,had quad shocks,ready to go....$66.00.I didn't "NEED" it,but for that price for that kind of expensive item,I grabbed it.It's still on jack stands in the garage waiting for detailing.I can sell my Traction Lock 2.73 rear and easily get my money back.I know a lot of the younger guys here are still learning a lot,so,I try to help with a little guidance sometimes.In the end,it's up to everybody to do things their own way,but if they learn to get the needs done first,they'll enjoy their cars more because it's easier to stay interested in your project car when you can also drive it.
Just remember vin that stang rear is shorter than yours(if it's the older fox style).
Yeea,it's like 3/4 of an inch narrower on each side.I have two options I'm thinking of.One,I can buy two spacers that are 1 1/2 inch thick and then it'll push my wheels out 3/4 of an inch more than they are now,no big deal.Two,I can swap on my brakes and axle shafts from my current rear and call it good.The spacers i'll probably try first.They're only $50.00 for the pair.If they don't work,then I'll sell them for what I can get,and go back to the axle swap.I like the whole bolt on spacer idea.
If you do use your axle shafts what would you use for drums as it will push them out further from the backing plate???
If you do go the spacer(3/4" per side not 1 1/2") route your going to have to get at least 3"studs to accomadate it and i wouldn't trust it.
The spacers bolt to the car,then they have studs for the wheels.No long wheel studs needed.Today all I accomplished was sanding 1/2 of the rear driver 1/4 and primering.Nothing fantastic.One small step as I have the time.I wanted to do more,but,Mother's day.So,I spent the day with the wife,waxing her car,taking her down town,etc.Good day.

It was a good waxing.
A little more work done today.I removed the driver side front fender and header panel,installed the replacement hood release cable,installed a new lower door hinge,and re-aligned the door.It was too far forward when I bought last year.I also removed the rest of the side trim on the driver side.The rear fender is ready for paint,and the door and front fender should be ready soon.I'll probably spend a little time tomorrow putting my door panels together and installing them in the car.They are all that haven't been installed yet when I swapped all of my grey interior into the car and got rid of all the tan .I'll snap a few shots and have Fila post them.
