Title: Good drinks?
Post by: amooset on January 28, 2005, 02:16:37 AM
Anyone have any good potent drinks to try out?  I've been drinking for awhile now and can't seem to find a drink that is as potent as a Long Island Iced Tea.  I hate shots and beer, so those are out.  4 good sized long islands and i'm set for the night.  Anything even close to that? (that won't taste like ).

Look into gin and tonics. (you'll probably want some lime flavoring in that too.. either w/ lime-twisted gin and lime-flavored tonic water, or adding in some lime juice) They're a pretty good "stealth drink".. you can drink and drink and drink 'em and not really realize how screwed up you're getting. Taste a little more potent that, say, 7-Up.. when you mix 'em right.. but you'll get royally screwed up. New Years was kinda my blowout before I quit for awhile, and I think I ended up drinking like half a 1.75 worth of gin that night. I couldn't even believe it the next day.

One word of caution, though.. if you're going to have drinks with gin in 'em, DO NOT drink other types of alcohol at the same time.. gin doesn't mix well with anything else. You'll be dumping most of it into the toilet out the wrong end, and that's alcohol abuse. :p

Oh yeah.. if gin isn't your thing, (always thought straight gin tastes how I imagine Windex would taste.. but it's good in a G&T) and you have a blender and a little more patience, I used to mix up pretty killer drinks with 151 rum and blue curacao.

Cant go wrong with screwdrivers! a bottle of smirnoff and a bottle of OJ (five alive mango works good to) and my night is set :grinno: i've never gotten a hangover off of that and I can usually finish the bottle and 'borrow' more alcohol after someone passes out :ies:

Just avoid brandy, its not meant to get drunk on :disappoin

More drunk then Fro at CJ? is there a level that's possible to go beyond that? :giggle:

...

As for me my drink of choice is pen 15e on the rocks, or sometimes I get really wild and drink it straight from the can!

I usually just drink beer myself (not that  american pisswater stuff).  Usually Newcastle or other ambers or darks, occasional pales.

When it comes to liquor I'll either do a shot of Jack, or have a Jack and pen 15e.

Then again, I don't drink to get wasted...so there's that.....

All beer tastes the same after the first few.. :p

my drink is a sweet drink... Amereto Disaronno and Pineapple juice, however if you're not into sweet, try orange juice. 1/3 ameretto and 2/3 juice is the standard on the rocks.

The all time drink that kicked the  outta me was Everclear and Hawaiian Punch. Check to see if Everclear is sold in your state, it's not sold in NY. Very little everclear with a lot of punch and you'll be on your arse. Best part about it, you can mix it with ANYTHING since it has no taste, just mind that it is 190 proof (95% alc. by vol.) and should not be over done.

Everclear is flammable... literally. It's pure grain alcohol. Be REAL careful with that stuff.

My favorite drink is Southern Comfort and pen 15e.

Livin' on the edge, eh Baxo?  :spit:

Here's a cool site with thousands of drinks:  http://www.webtender.com

On the drink, I'm with amooset.  Nothing beats a well-mixed Long Island Iced Tea.

Big negative on that.....only true if you're drinking  beer like Bud, Miller, Coors (or any of the variations), etc....

Bigger negative on that. Was the same case even with the decent German beers I've had before. Bitburger was as good as my friends said it was.. but, true to beer form, it was just another beer after 3 or 4. I wouldn't say no to it.. but I won't go out of my way to drop $10-ish on a 6-pack.

Beer is beer, to me. If I wanted to drink something to be picky over, I'd drink wine.

At any rate, we're debating something that the original poster specifically said he didn't want anything to do with. :D

I put "Jerimiah Weed" into Google and got hits, so yeah I'd say you pretty much got it right. (minus the h, but who cares? heh)

That reminds me..

homemade Lynchburg Lemonade:
1 part Jack
1 part Triple Sec
1 part sour mix
4 parts 7-Up or equivalent

Not quite as evil as gin and tonic, but as Chappelle says: "IT'LL GET YA DRUNK!"

Yeah I second that, i've had that stuff before and it freakin knocked me across the room. It's the next best thing to moonshine in my mind. But if you're looking for good stuff to down. Try amaretto sour's, not too terribly sweet and not too bitter (make sure you find some grenedine tho), long island tea's are great for that "it's not alcohol" type of drink, also tequllia sunrises are good for that i'm not tasting alkeyhol buzz. Other personal favs are Sour Puckers (i like apple), wild turkey (when i'm in a bad mood), screwdrivers as mentioned, and those little 8 or 10 some odd oz. jack daniels bottles like lynchburg lemonade or the wildberry ones. Try drink eight straight of those and walking after sitting for 10 minutes  !

THAT also reminds me..

A little invention we called the "Happy Breezer".. we would buy tons of those 4-packs of Bacardi Breezers, and a bottle of 151 rum. We'd drink the Breezer bottles with 3 labels on them down to about the top of the second label, and re-fill that portion with 151 rum and carefully mix it up. (not wise to be shaking carbonated drinks) It will get you a bit more buzzed than you think, and shouldn't taste much different than usual.

If you just want a drink to drink for sheer "what the f***" value, there's always what we coined "Diet Crack".. Jolt Cola and 151 rum. :p

On the subject of Beers.. I've only tried mostly american (suck-ass) beers and I'm not impressed, nor are my taste buds.  Chuck, or anyone else who has reccomendations, what's a good "real" beer to try, something that I can get at a local store, nothing I'd have to go to the state store for (even though it's about 2 miles away.)  People have told me Sam Adams and various Great Lakes brews are good.  Any other suggestions?

As for me, I really havne't drank enough to develop a favorite, but I can say  :disappoin to SoCo or any type of whisky, really.  Mix it however you want, I just can't mask that taste.  Screwdrivers are okay, for about the first two, then I tend to get tired of OJ.  And, towards the bottom of the glass, the vodka taste comes through, but such is to be expected.  I was, for a while, a fan of mixing Captain and any sort of Cola, after enough of them they taste exactly like Vanilla variants of said colas.  And, like I said, beer... meh.  I liked MGD for a while, but it's a bit too much sometimes.  Typical white-bread boring american beers like Bud Light and Busch Light (practically the same) will do, sometimes Bud Ice.

oh, I forgot "the Matrix mix", before seeing Matrix 2 my friends and I got Johnny Walker Black and Dr. Pepper... they wored really well together. And hey, drunk the movie ALMOST made sense!

Also Cap. Morgans and beer = cream soda, Ameretto and beer = Dr. Pepper...

Most ****ed up I ever got was off of shots called "Mind Erasers", 1/3 club soda, 1/3 vodka, 1/3 kaluha on the rocks with a straw.... wow, bad memories, but in moderation it may be ok.

I used to love JD, but it can make some people angry. I never believed it until I got wasted on it one night and tried to pick a fight with my best friend.
I rarely drink it these days.

Bitburger, like I mentioned, was a good beer when I had it.. but expensive. I can only get it at the ABC on the other side of town for $10-ish a 6-pack. Not very common for a beer that's imported only about 20-30 miles north of here. Grolsch isn't bad in those bottles with the weird wire stoppers on 'em. But like I said, eventually it all tastes the same to me. I guess I just don't cut it in the beer-snobbery arena. :dunno:

you think beer sucks there, its only got 3 and some odd points here in utah. so we have to drink 2 times as much just to get drunk. err I mean people of legal age have to

Wow... 3% beer.  That must suck.  I thought we had it bad when it's around the 4's.

, there's more than that in Mich Ultra. :p

And no, I never said beer sucks. Just that it begins to taste the same after awhile.. and that was before the last year or so, even. When I wanna drink for flavor, I make any of the mixed drinks I listed above, or a few others. When I just wanna drink, I drink beer. I don't get caught up in all the beer snobbishness that seems to have exploded the past few years. (right along with coffee snobbishness)

There are two beers I refuse to drink, though.. and one was my father's favorite: Busch. As my closest friend describes it, "Warm cow piss drank through a dirty sweat sock". The other is Corona. I don't buy into the hype. Pretty much anything else is fair game, though.. like all the Natty Light/Ice I drank through and after the hurricanes, on up to stuff in the Bitburger price range.

(I tease my uncle for drinking Bud all the time.. but then again, I tease him for just about anything.. especially being a ed Packers fan)

My favoite liquer involves corn, sugar, yeast, water, and barley and a whole lotta fermenting time.

Beer wise I drink a Canadian Beer called OV (old vienna) or budwieser (canadian kinda, the one with alchol :)  )

Another good drink is as follows:  buy a frozen mix strawberry bacardi can (disregard the instructions)  blend the frozen can with 3 cups crushed ice and a bottle of white rum.  Somehow because of the ice, you cannot hardly tast the rum.

I remember my first kegger!.. well I remember arriving, then it was daylight :giggle: I think there was a funnel in there somewhere???

The only beer I will turn down is canadian :yuck: tastes like grass to me.

Another good drink (not sure what/if it has a name) is clamato, tobasco, and beer, maybe a dash of pepper aswell.
