A couple of people were talking about the Krass & Bernie drawing in my sig - more particularly, they were talking about the hood scoop on it. I thought of that as I was cruising kijiji (kinda like Craigslist) and came across this '85 Bird for sale (btw, the car is for sale locally, it has the FMS body kit, and a V6, he wants $1100). This, I believe, would serve as a good example of how NOT to put a scoop on a T-Bird hood:
wow...I've been thinking hillborn style hood scoop
I want to shave down the front of the raised part on the hood, and split the remainder into a challenger/cuda shape, but who's got time.
I think that one's more along the lines of hill
billy style
Wow.
each to his own...I like the old street rod stuff. they'll be plenty of fresh air for it sticking out of the hood. everyone seems to have cowls or those dual hoodscoop 3m tape around here. my car will stand out.
Not so much the style IMHO, but the fact thats it's not even half assed molded to the hood. It doesn't even match the shape or the contor of the hood what so ever. A blind man would think that looks like ass on there
I was talking about the hood scoop in the pic I posted. I like the old hillborn scoops myself, especially sitting on top of a roots blower (if I'm correct in thinking I even know what a hillborn scoop is...)
there's the one with flap that connect to the throttle, and here's the open type like what i'm going with
...wow. Thats all there is to say. You should buy that car and take the scoop off and save its pride. And you can have a GFX kit!
thats the scoop off of an '85 Capri RS, would look ok if he modified it to sit right. I am molding my replica TC scoops into my cowl hood right now.
I'll be the first one with a TC scooped cowl :hick:
Ya going to make those work? :D
Ive always wanted a cowl hood with TC scoops. This hood looks good, wish they were for our cars.

If you cut the skin of a TC hood and added metal to the sides to make the center raised, I wonder if that would work. Would it flex or move the brackets for the scoops at all I wonder.
I could have made a cowl out of a TC hood but I didn't want to hack up a perfectly good TC hood for that, when you can make them yourself.
True. I wanna see yours when all is said and done.
haha,
I bet they took all the time airbrushing it without test fitting it... then
installed it and went OH !. :punchballs:
And wow that looks bad ass 1WLD, Cant wait to see it finished!.
Ive been thinking of taking a TC hood and cutting the center raised section an raising it 1 1/2 inches or so.
yeah thats what i was i said then i read it all.
I have a TC hood with bent corners and a great flat hood...
:hick:
There's that darn 70 AMX hoodscoop in the garage too...
Do It!

I have one of those to put on the cougar to give clearance for the intake. I have just enough room to close the hood on the engine because of the intake.
Carm, this is a hilborn.....
Those replica cobra jet ones dont look right, you need a real one, Like this:

That's what I was thinking it was. I remember when I was a kid a neighbour had a roots blown 454 in a Vega with one of those sitting all nice and pretty atop the mountain he called an engine. He ended up twisting the car all to hell from doing wheelies in the local mall parking lot (guess subframe connectors woulda been a good idea). That car was hawtness - it looked like a Krass & Bernie cartoon itself. I think there was just enough room between the rear slicks to fit a driveshaft.
Hmm... I have a perfectly good flat hood lying around... Maybe if I go with the 351 and need an excuse to cut a hole in it...
, you guys have got to stop putting ideas in my head.
modern day hilborn ;)
I was searching and stumbled into this so I thought I would throw one out for opinuons. I do like the TC scoops on the cowl hood though. Sorry the pics so small , but it was only one I have and now Crites doesn't have a pic on their website even they still list the hood.

thats hideous
looks like a tooooomuh!
Looks like something a fabricator would make in the throes of roid rage!
I still think it would look good with the motorsport grill.
What car are you talking about Graham?
In that case, I think *most* 4 eyes look good with a motorsport grill. Provided they have some form of a gfx kit on them.
