Well after much help from you guys I believe I have figured out the way to post a picture so here it goes. Here is one I just picked up this past weekend out in Wisconsin. Its a 76 with 36000 miles and a gas loving 460. The car is all original and was pampered its whole life. I know its not a fox body but I did happen to get one pic with my 87 in it as well.
Paint it Lavender and throw some 22 on it! LOL just kidding!
Looks real clean. I like it! Throw some big heads and a cam on it so you can have the perfomance comiserate with your gas consumption.
Then add a matching Leisure Suit with a hat with a big feather in it so that your “Man Hoes” will show you some RESPECT!!
:beatyoass:
I wish gas was still .50 a gal. Cruising down the freeway that has got to be like ridding on a cloud.
I love it, just couldent afford to drive it.
Nice! That thing looks like it's in excellent shape.
4 15"s in the trunk. curb feelers 24"s an the fender emblems to match. white top an Lavender with white bottom 2tone. YEAH! LOL no please dont.
For some reason I just can't get my head around those being Birds. They'll always be Torinos to me (we used to own a pair of '72 Torinos so I'm well familiar with them). One nice, thing, though, those things are cruising machines...
there' a '70 green bird floating(no pun intended, ok maybe it was) around here that I'm really envious of.
:birdsmily:
Yea I always liked the 70 fastback roof, I bought one last summer which as of now I havent done a whole lot with. I need to get off my arse and finish it, its a factory moonroof car and with the options on it, it was 1 of 55 built.
460, huh? And I'm gussing it has the 36 gallon gas tank to go with it? I'd love to see the clerks face the first time you fill it up from empty. :D
I had a 76 Elite with the same engine package. Was interesting when I filled it up because on empty the L-60-15 Pro Tracs I had on the back were an inch and a half from the lip of the fenderwell. On full they were two inches up into the fender wells.
It was a mere 61 bucks to fill it from about1/8 tank. All in all though it got right around 15mpg the whole trip back which I didnt think was as bad as possible. I have some 65's with 390s that are lucky to get 12mpg
My Elite didn't do to bad on gas, but I didn't have the tow package. I'm guessing you don't either. Would have had a much lower final drive and it would have got 12 MPG with a perfect tune.
I love those big 70's birds...... nice find
so..... what other birds are you hiding from us... :D we must see them all :D:D
That's a beautiful 'Bird. My brother had a '76 with the 460 - it was white with white leather interior. When he sold it a gaggle of pimps showed up to buy it and literally got into a fistfight in the driveway over who was gonna get it. Needless to say, my brother wasn't dickering with the price :hick: My father still laughs when he thinks about the time he answered the phone and heard "Ya gots da buurd fo sale?"
Another fine memory of that car: My father was trying to get it started for my brother and emptied an entire can of ether into the carburetor. When it finally did catch it blew the exhaust system to pieces and caught the undercoating on fire. I will never forget the image of my father lying on his back under the burning car splashing water from a Kool-Aid pitcher up at the floor while hollering at my mother for more water and hollering at us kids to stay the hell away when the fire dept showed up (a neighbour had called). A fireman grabbed him by the ankles and hauled him out from under the car and proceeded to give him a proper dressing down (first for getting under the burning car, then for blowing it up to begin with) while the other firemen doused the fire. Luckily, aside from the exhaust system, there was no real damage.
Dansbirds - I had a '66 Galaxie 500 with the 390/4bbl and that pig was lucky to get 10MPG! I couldn't afford to drive it (was in high school at the time) even though gas was only about 40 cents/liter back then (by contrast it's $1.20/liter now)
Ok heres some more, the blue one is mine the emberglo and the white one are my dads. They are Special Landaus, 4300 made of emberglo and 200 of the white
one more shot I found
SA-WEET!!! Nice collection. Seems like most of the 70's cars are disappearing. Rarely do you even see any of them at any shows either.
I spy a '70-'71 fastback in there:D . Those are my favorite T-birds next to the '87-'88 and '83-'86. I'd love to have a black non vinyl roof one. The '76 looks really nice. A guy in the T-bird club by me has once just like it.
Good eye, its a 70. Always liked the roofline so I bought it last year. Its a 67000 mile 429ci car with a factory moonroof. With the options on it it was one of 55 built like that. I picked up the bucket seats and console option so will be putting those in. Int is black so can go any color I want.
