Title: electrical problem
Post by: blownbirds on January 27, 2005, 01:19:26 PM
I was wondering if any body has had this problem. I have an 86 bird equipped with the digital dash. I have upgradded to a 130 amp alt and it has worked fine for the last year the other day I started it and the alternator wouldn't charge. I thought the alt. was bad so i swapped it (lifetime warranty from autozone). After I  changed it the thing went full field and starting charging at 21 volts. What is the deal.  I am not sure if the digital dash has an IVR.  Any help would be very appreciated

I would be thinking voltage regulator. It seems like there a diffrent peice on alt.

I had thought of that but the regulator is built in.

The alternator is a 3G 130 amp for a  1995 MUSTANG. Does anybody know if the digital dash is equipped with an IVR that controls the alt.  Because when I first put the alt back in the car it wouldn't charge. Then when i stomped the gas it went full field at 21 volts  :dunno:  :shoothead
