Does anyone know where to get a pilot bearing to convert a 2.3Turbo from the py 4cyl 5speed to a V8 manual trans? I thought I had heard a place called motion dynamics carried it but I cant seem to find there web site. if any of you guys know of a place please let me know. Thanks
Bill
I'm sure someone would know, since there's always someone talking about how the V8 T5 is a better choice than the 4-pot one.
Got mine from either rockauto.com or partsamerica.com
Nobody makes a pilot bearing for such a swap. Your choices are:
1) Run a bronze bushing, which a couple places make although I can't remember what companies
2) Have the nose of the V8 T5 input shaft turned down to fit the 4 cyl. pilot bearing
3) Have the end of the crank machined out to fit a V8 pilot bearing.
Bill, your sig pic is way too big. Please shrink it down to about half its current size. Some of us are still on dialup, y'know
couldn't you use the input shaft out of the 4banger 5speed and put it into the V8 5speed? I think that most over at turbo ford use the bronze bushing.
I got on the internet and some racing guy stuck a V8 T-5 behind his 4 cyl. His website said all he used was a pilot bearing. I can't remember the site for the life of me, but I ordered the bearing (Napa) right away. I don't want it anymore though so if you want it, it's yours. I'm not saying it will work, but this guy said it did.
No...it's different, won't fit.
Bill.... Bitchin SVO man. Looks amazing.
Thanks Fila. I found the pilot bearing i was looking for, motion-dynamics.net sells it for 7.95 plus shipping.
Ipsd, using a 2.3 input would totaly defete the purpose of using a v8 trans due to the fact that the input is a touch weaker that the v8 counterpart. Thanks for the help guys and sorry my sig is so large, dont know how to make it any smaller of i would!

I was gonna do something snazzy... but then work called and I lost my motivation.

Come on get that motivation goin again! I have been wanting a spiffy sig with my car. Thanks
Bill
do you have a pic of the new bearing? because if you pulled the stock 4cyl bearing from the crank the v-8 trans would probly fit in the opening. the 4cyl bearing is very small
bill Ill trade you a kidney for your car!
Before we know it, people here will resort to prostitution :hick:
now im not going THAT far, i have 2 what good is the other one. I can put that svo to good use though!
No picture of the bearing yet,but as soon as I get it I will post a pic. Thanks for all the compliments on my SVO I cant wait to have it back on the road again. its been apart to damm long.
Bill
I'm really wondering if it's a BEARING and not just a bushing. I was not aware of any bearings available for that.
Supposedly it is a bearing that Motion-dynamics carries.
