Tuner Special: Mallett Cars Beefs Up Pontiac Solstice
BERERA, Ohio — Mallett Cars already offers more power for the Pontiac Solstice with its LS2/LS7 V8 engine conversion kits. Now it's adding more show to the go with its aggressive-looking Pitbull wide-body kit.
It adds 4 inches of width to the front and 5 inches in the rear, giving the Solstice a considerably more menacing look. More importantly, the six-piece body kit allows the use of ultrawide wheels so you can put all that V8 power to good use. The specially designed front fascia also improves airflow to the engine.
The fiberglass upgrade is expected to cost $16,000-18,000 fully installed and painted. A carbon-fiber package will also be available by special order.
Only a limited number of Pitbull Edition Solstices will be built. The official debut is scheduled for the 2007 SEMA show.
What this means to you: The stock Solstice looks pretty good on its own, but Mallett makes it look tough.

I can't believe we are talking about the SLOWSTICE! LOL. I my buddy is really into fireo's and the place that makes a V8 kit for the fiero also makes on for the slowstice. Yes LS7 power in that little thing. I guess after the V8 conversion it should be called the GOSTICE.

I agree, TChicken. The sky looks much better, but it seems more fitting to have the V8 in the Pontiac than in the Saturn. :) I personally think this is the best job anyone has done modifying the exterior of the Solstice. It usually ends up looking like Bugs Bunny had a face lift.
Those pics look awfully close to Hot Rod from 2 years ago when they DID drop an LS7 into a Soltice. In fact, I'd lay money down that that IS the Hot Rod LS7 Soltice. The Intake shot in particular looks right off of the cover.

Nope. Mallet had jack squat to do with that car. Hot Rod built it and GM helped. It ended up costing about $100K but it has an entire carbon-fiber body, is 50-state legal, and goes low 10's in the 1/4. The car is an absolute animal. Stock 505HP LS7 with the GM hot cam and custom headers and tune, made 632HP when they were done (550+RWHP).
Yes. I took those pictures off Google to show how the engine fits in the bay. I did think that was a Mallett intake, so my mistake there.

The point of all this is if Shelby were to do something true to his heritage, and what made him famous, it would be closer to this than what he's doing now. An MX-5 with a 4.6 (a la 289) and a 5.4 (427) with just a Cobra on the hood.
They have that option, for only $53,265.75...
Or you could get the Turbo'ed LS2... for $16,000 more.
I agree on the SKY, but this is just a little twist on old news. I looked into this a year ago. I actually thought about buying one. Now before you shoot me or hang me in effigy, [[SIZE="1"]or for real like some[/SIZE]] I've owned only FORDS since 1985. My father restored at least a dozen 64-66 Mustangs before he passed. He was working on a 1984 when he died. My brother still has it and he drives an Escalade daily :grinno:. So, in perspective my family have been pretty loyal to FORD and I consider myself to be very loyal. It would be nice to have a fun little car. My dad never liked "the bugs" as he called them but I always liked nimble, qwick cars that had a road track look to them. Mustang is the competitor but seems like it's in a different class. Like a Rally car instead of a sports car, although I know its untrue.
Sooooooo...who would like to buy me one? Any takers? :D
I think they look like Yakuza stingers, if i wanted to blow my money on a conversion like this i would buy a Focus Zx3 and put a 4.6 cobra or a 351 into it.
Id love a solstice or sky even in base form.

hot rod made a body kit, that one is a diff body kit, i would LOVE to drive one, all stock outside, and all the motor and suspension and brake upgrades. Thats one of my dream cars
