Title: Help me choose some tires for my F150...
Post by: fordman3 on April 25, 2007, 12:14:18 AM
Hey all,
I may have some available funds to re-shod my '98 F150 and wondered if I could get some opinions/advice on a few candidates.  I'm trying to choose between Bridgestone Dueler H/P's, Toyo Proxes, and Falken Ziex ST/01(?)'s.  They each have some pretty good specs.  I'm going for a sporty aggressive look that gives a comfortable ride but that will also give me a few miles.  One of the 3 has a wear rating of 500+, and the other 2 are 420.  By the way, I'm looking at 275/60R17's.  On Ebay, they each seem to run around $108 to $110 apiece give or take, so they've got to be somewhat similar in performance.  I currently have BFGoodrich Long Trail Radial T/A's, and even though they've been good tires, they just look a little industrial, and even though they claim to be a 60-series tire, they sure look more like a 70.  I even think they are a good bit more expensive than the sportier tires I am looking at.  What are any suggestions or experience anybody has with these tires?  Thanks for your help.

Are you looking for an off-road tire look or the highway tread smooth look?

I go to http://www.tirerack.com when I want to check out the look of tires.(and compare prices)

T-Bird Guy,
Thanks for the advice.  I also use tirerack.com quite a bit, but it just so happens that they don't carry any of these 3.  I am looking for a street tire.  I did find some reviews last night, and it looks like the Toyos have the best rep for wear and performance, and they look really good with a cool directional tread.  Thanks again.
