Title: Downshift cable adjustment
Post by: Autocat on April 19, 2007, 11:36:30 AM
i didnt know if i should put this in engine, electrical, or drivetrain, but here it sits.  anyway..  i got a 5.0L AOD and i feel like my downshift cable or linkage is ou of adjustment.  when im in overdrive and get to half throttle it downshifts to 3rd.  i mean i cant use half of overdrive at all so cars end up accelerating past me while i fly up on them like a ricer flyby.. its embarrassing.  so i was wondering if you guys could tell me how to adjust the downshift settings so that i have to put the pedal to at least JUST about to the floor.  i mean goin over 85 and trying to get some grunt out of it while its downshifting to 3rd at 4500+ rpm isnt only bad for the engine, but its annoying b/c i cant get the top end i want out of the car unless i really got a distance.  same thing happens to 3rd and sometimes 1st.  it just downshifts WAY too early.  i wont need to buy anything to improve this will i?  i mean here's an illistration

[_____________] - throttle distance
[_______D_____] - when in OD the car downshifts over 90mph.

i kinda want the response like 3rd gear has in the aod, where it wont shift into OD if floored.
