Title: Converting to five lug 03gt parts ran into a problem
Post by: 88cat on April 18, 2007, 07:03:24 PM
Im converting my 88 T-Bird into 5 lugs up front with spindles and brakes from a 2003 mustang gt. I was installing the spindle and saw that the mustang spindle is shorther where the ball joint nut goes and used washers on top and then saw that my strut hits the a arm. Well now I tried washers under the spindle where the balljoint goes and when i tighten it the spindle is hard to move. So my question is do I need mustang ball joint or how have you guys done it? I did not wanted to buy ball joints because I will be going all tubular but I think I will have to. If you guys have made the stock ball joint work I would really appreciate some input here thanks.

you will have to change your struts to sn-95 style struts, and yes you have to change your balljoints, but you can get away with using washers on top of the spindle

I think the cheaper autozone ball joints are 15 bucks or so a piece.. and they are more than fine.. don't listen to nay sayers.
