Does anyone know how to remove the body side molding without it curving or how to fix the old stuff? I have the stuff from the door I'm trying to replace and from the door going on. The molding on the new door is off so I could sand better.
Lay it flat on a flat surface (garage floor) and place large flat weights on it (the trim). Heavy books and boxes work well. Heat with a blow dryer at low if it's cold where you are. After a few hours it will stay flat. Body shops put them in the paint baking booths which works awesome.
Thanks!
Make sure you peel off all the metal double sided tape. That won't let it get back into the right shape. Also on my older trim with the chrome at the top I cut the outter clear off of it and peeled the masty rusted chrome stuff off. Under the chrome is a hard gray plastic piece. I bet you could put some pinstriping tape on it or paint it.
Or my replacement chrome ;)
