Title: Ford HEI Dist. ?'s
Post by: FLYN83BIRD on April 15, 2007, 12:25:09 PM
Just wondering if anyone has used one and if they have how well do they work.  I am in the process of ditching the CFI  and going carb so I am researching parts at this point.

A couple of years ago i done the swap from cfi to carb. I got a points type ford distributor and installed the points eliminator kit from pertronics, it was an easy conversion and still works great.

My ears are burning.  I installed a Procomp HEI in my Bird during the engine rebuild.  With some MSD 8.5 MM wires.  It was a simple install, just plunk it in the block and then I connected its power wire to a relay I attached to the firewall.  I triggered the relay with the factory coil wire and routed power directly off the starter relay with some good gauge wire.  Hasn't given me any trouble.
