How does the door lock actuator come off? I need to replace my driver side door lock actuator and cant see any bolts holding it thanks.
if you look on the outside by the latch you will see a rivet, drill it out
Ok yea I saw the rivet and was not sure that it was for the actuator and how will I install the new one just with a bolt and nut?
I'd recommend using a rivet. A bolt/nut might back off (and it might be impossible to hold a nut on while trying to tighten it anyway)
Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.
forget drilling it out. The little motor has a tit on each side that has a rubber type thing on it. those rubbers are what hold the motor in place. That rivet only holds the bracket to the door. I just pop the lock motor out of the metal U shaped mount. No drilling and such.
Have a 1/4" bolt and nut on mine, no prob tightening it up(my bracket came loose from the rivet and assembly was just dangling by the motor shaft)... Used a locking nut with the nylon insert, installed bolt head out(showing), nut inside door...
Yes,what TC50 said.I did the same.
