what car came with a traction lok rear from the factory that will fit in a 84 cougar?
HEY,I have a 7.5 3.45 geared traction Lock rear you can HAVE for free if you want to come and pick it up ( I'm going to use the 8.8 Stang rear I bought). This rear never gave me any problems at all.As a matter of fact,it's the rear that was in Old Blue in the burnout shot in the banner above.I have to make room in the garage, and it really needs to go.I'm down here in Ardmore (a little over an hour drive). It'll bolt right in.It needs the brakes, brake lines and wheel cylinders(which you can use from your current rear)and that's it.If you are interested, let me know and I'll get directions for you.
i will take it. can yu save it till the end of may? because i dont have the time cause of school and work.
No worries. It'll sit until you're ready for it.I amy have the quad shocks from my parts car if you need them. You'll have to come up with the brackets, mine were welded on.I'll try to snag some brackets at the boneyard.keep me posted when you're ready.I'll be in California from May 29 to June 5th.
I will come and take it off your hands today, or tommorow, whenever. I am in Norman.
Thanks
hey vinnie do you still have that trac lok rear end?
I do still have it.
hey vinnie what is your address? i will come and pick up that rear end august 25 or september 1. if that ok with you
Both of the Traction Lock rears are gone.I hauled them to the s yard two weeks ago and sold them with the rest of my s pile for $$.I was running out of space in a big way. There's a Turbo Coupoe with a disc rear at D&H auto salvage here in Ardmore.I don't know how much he'd charge, though. There's also two of them in Durant Oklahoma at one of the yards.I can't remember the name, but it's on 9th street.Information can find the number if you need to call.Just tell them a salvage yard on 9th.It's J&H or something like that.I kept the Traction Lock rears as long as I could.Sorry.I have a 2.73 TL rear in my Bird I'll be pulling out soon.I don't know if that will help you or not.
do you know where i can get a 7.5 traction lock with 5.13 gears both together or at the same place?
5.13 gears?Wow,that's a steep order.I have no idea where one with those specs would be.
so far the biggest i can find for a 7.5 is 4.56. i'll keep digging.
edit* richmond gear part # 6903481
that's the ring and pinion that you need.
then you still need the install kit. part # 8310451
just find a decent 7.5 rear end and you're set.
i found tons of gear ratios for the 7.5 rear ends for $200 or less on ebay under mustang 7.5 and the biggest gears for a 7.5 that i have seen is 5.13. i just need a traction lock complete rear end basically then put my 5.13s in . what is the differences between the auburn and track lock.
I don't know.If you can wait just a few weeks, you can have my TL rear that's in my car now.It has 2.73's in it,but it is in great shape, then, you can put your gears in it.No charge if you can wait.I'll let you know when I swap mine.
If you're not interested,it's going to the syard.
i am not ready for installation of a rear end anyway for at least a couple of months till i get the complete suspension kit that i am buying from roush and you can take your time i am not in a big hurry and this time i will make time to pick it up so it out of your way.
was your rear end swap successful vinnie?
The 8.8 hasn't gone in yet. It's still sitting on jack stands in the garage. It'll be an easy swap, just bolt it in and bleed the brakes.I just haven't had time.We (my budy and i) decided to install the rear when we do the cam, heads, and timing gear swap. While the car is cooling off,we'll replace the rear with the 8.8,then,the 7.5 will find a new home somewhere. The other 3 TL 7.5 rears I had went to the s yard. Two had 3.45 gears, one had 2.73 gears.I tried to give them away and noone would take them. Now,I suppose they've been chewed up into little bits and have been recycled into railroad track or something. The TL coming out will be free if someone wants it when i do the swap.TL with 2.73 gears.
when you have the TL out of your car tell me a week a head then i will pick it up i need it bad...
Are you sure this time?LOL.
i am super sure i even have it arranged so you just have to tell me the day and i will be there.
When it's ready,I'll hold it for you for a week. Then,if you don't make it,off to the s yard.I need all the garage space I can have.I'll let you know the day I pull it.
Good luck buying Roush suspension parts that fit a Thunderbird.
the suspension parts i'm buying are roush made suspension parts for fox body cougar and thunderbird during the 80's. the parts i planning on was put on nascar and different race cars.
