Time to track the snow. We're expecting up to 3 feet here in MA. I'll keep you guys updated. This is after less than an hour.

Too late at night to take a "before" pic here, but if the snow starts late enough tomorrow I might get to. A hint of what it will look like: The T-Bird is already covered in two feet of snow, and that's before this storm even starts.

'Round here that Crown Vic would've been towed by now. No parking is allowed on the streets before, during or after a snowstorm.

Nothing happening here yet...

Grand Marquis. It's on a dead end side street and belongs to someone a few houses down on the main street. It's much better off where it is.

We got dodged completely here in Indy.  Were supposed to get hit by two systems.  One passed further north than planned, then the next passed further south :D

Just got a dusting..

And the final accumulation... about 28 inches with drifts as big as like 6 feet in places:

Hey Crystal,  What kinda camera do you have?  My pictures at night don't come out near as good as yours do.  :)

It has a setting for night mode, you might want to check yours for that. it's pretty cheap now. When you can get it to work, it's great, but you need to have a very steady hand.

Ok, here's my "before" (the snow started about two hours before this pic was taken, there was about 4" of fresh snow down at the time) and "during" (taken about an hour ago, there's a bit more than a foot of snow down). It's dark now, so "after" will have to wait until tomorrow (the weather office is calling for an additional 25CM (10")). Gonna be interesting to see where I'm gonna put all that snow (by the way, that white lump next to the covered snowblower is the T-Bird)...

Oh, and here's a couple of "out the front door" pics - my sister's Cavalier is in the foreground, she's staying here because she doesn't want to ride the storm out alone. That hedge out by the road is a 6' hedge, to give you an idea of how much snow is in my yard.

And finally, an "out the back door" pic. The way my house is situated, any time we get a "Nor-easter" all of the snow blows off the roof and onto my patio and into the back yard. That little bit of fence you can see toward the middle (at the bottom of the stairs) is a 5' fence! The one in the background is an 7-footer, built that high to keep the dog in the yard after he got away during last year's blizzard. He didn't get far, mind you (he couldn't run very fast in six foot deep snow)

We only got a dusting hear, but the road were extremely icy b/c of all the frozen rain. Earlier in the week we got hit by a small amount of frozen rain and I sat in traffic for about 6hrs, a trip that usually would take me 45min.

heh heh, snow. Its been raining here for the last week almost all the snow is gone, my driveway is completely clear and the roads are a sheet of ice (there was actually a pic in the paper of kids playing ice hockey on the street) and we had a high of +9 C today, its supposed to go back down this week to highs of -3. After a week and a half of -30 C I think I can deal with that :p

Y'all are lucky! I love the snow, but it rarely ever snows here. :shakehead

We can go several years between snowfalls, and when it does snow, it usually just melts when it hits the ground. For the snow to stay around awhile is a very special event. This past Christmas Eve, it snowed enough to accumulate about 1-2 inches, but was all gone by noon on Christmas day.

Lucky? LUCKY?!?!?!? You wanna come shovel my driveway??? A bit of snow is alright, but this will make it four feet in seven days! We've already doubled our normal January snowfall and January ain't over yet! Then we have February, March and April. Gimme Texas weather any day!

It is funny, though, that you had a white Christmas and we didn't (we paid for it with 50cm (20") of snow on BOxing day though)

Yeah, I was being funny!  :grinno:  I realize you can have "too much of a good thing."

It got "cold" here last night - all the way down into the 30s. The last weather report I heard today said that the temp. should get back up into the 60s tomorrow, though!

I guess I'm glad that I don't have to worry about blizzards like you guys...but I did have to mow my yard a few days ago. It never "stops" growing...it just "slows down."  :giggle:

How's your car doing in it?  The Mustang aint too bad,  Likes to go sideways,  But at least I can control it when it gets wild on me.  Everyone keeps telling me I need FWD for delivering!  I've already put one of them into a telephone pole this year,  don't need another!  LOL!

Brian - he was talkin -30 CELSIUS. That's ed cold!

The aftermath of our storm, 66cm (26") later. The first two were taken out my back windows. This is a split entry house, so these windows are about 8 feet off the ground. The third pic is the driveway, taken out the front window. The wind blew the snow away from the Dakota, but my sister's Cavalier is well and thoroughly buried.

More:

#1: My neighbour's yard, taken from my front window. Note the Tercel on the far left of the pic.

#2: out the front door. You can see the wind cleared quite a bit away from the T-Bird as well. The drift between the Cavalier and T-Bird was about 3 feet deep though...

#3: Out the back door. Again you can see the snow blew away from the 'bird, but look at the Neon in the neighbour's driveway and the drift next to my father's Ram. Also note how deep the snow is in the foreground - that's an eight-foot drift there...

.  If it ever snowed that much here it would shut the state down.  I certainly wouldn't be posting about it on the Internet because I wouldn't have any power and neither would anyone else.  The most it has ever snowed here since I moved to this place back in '92 was when 32" fell in March of '93.  We were out of power for a week.

I'd like to see that much snow again though.  Even though it was inconvenient it was still a lot of fun and something I'll never forget.

Well, our response to that line usually was "but it's mine to play with".

So CougarBaby's thread was turned into a discussion on Dare's price, and Crystal's thread was turned into a discussion on restroom self-abuse. We're on a roll! *flex*

At least this one shouldn't get locked because we weren't paying enough attention to the original poster..
