You've got a 7.5" in that sweet ride. That don't help none though. You want some axles from a 94-98 'Tang. Make sure they don't have the ABS rings.

The v6 stang bangers would have the 7.5 and its axles would fit fine.  Aside from the brakes the stang rear would bolt in without a hitch.

*BUZZ*!!!!!!

Try again.

86-88 Tbird/Cougar 7.5's will not work with the Mustang axles....

You can swap the entire rear axle assy from the SN-95 Mustang, brakes, housing and all if you like and have the same width axle  to axle , but the axles alone will not swap into the wider 87 7.5 housing.

IIRC that's one of the issues covered in the threads that touched on this whole issue.  The 3/4" may not be an problem, but most likely it is.

The 86-88 Tbird 7.5 housing are wider....and thus the bearings are in a different spot than the  others.

willywags....there is a search feature on this board.....it works....

I thought that the axle housing of the sn95 was the same width as the 86-88.  Infact i slid my sn95 axles into my old 88 housing and they seem to fit fine...

ERER I ARE CORNFUSED..

Nope....the 86-88 Tbird 7.5 housings are 3/4" wider per side than the Mustang and early Tbird 7.5's and the 8.8's.

The axles will slide in....

LOOK HERE (http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showpost.php?p=33775&postcount=1)

Yes, the 79-98 Mustang 7.5 and 8.8, the 83-85Tbird 7.5 and 87-88TC 8.8 housings are all the same width...

The 86-88 Tbird/Cougar 7.5's are wider....
