Last one is a fixer upper...
Location? Mostly within a half hour drive of Bend which currently is sporting about 70k population. Downside? Described by locals as 'poverty with a view'. Just not a whole lot of well paying job opportunities. But nice place to live if you like the country. We got mountains, lakes, desert, woods, rocks, etc. Everything but a ton of people and rain.
Bryan
I live in Longview, WA. It's not Oregon, but it's right on the Columbia river and only 35 miles from Portland/Vancouver. The views are spectacular.
Longview? I had thought you were up closer to Seattle? Hey that is not a bad run for me. I was just in Portland this past weekend so just a quick trip over the river. (Talked to you the other day about '85 30th T-Bird parts.)
And middle of Ohio can be nice. I grew up in farm country PA.

she is wondering about cottage grove, and i was figuring that around 20k would be a nice number be small enough to be friendly but large enough to be convenient house depends on what we lookin for its not a major necessity that we have a house immediately but needin to know job markets she is a computer tech and im a truck driver so any help would be appreciated any websites that come to mind? thanks yall
Cottage Grove? Intimidator should be able to help you on that one better then me.
Bryan
cottage grove is a beautiful place... i dont know what kind of truckin u do but i DO know just out of cottage grove itself is a logging outfit warehauser (SP) as far as computer technition you would be probably easily be able to find something along those lines bout 20 miles north of cottage grove in eugene/springfield area as i said before is probably around 200-400k population maybe more. I do also know there are more trucking opportunities than just the logging outfit, i remember it as it is where my uncle used to work before he passed away and now my cousin runs his truck for them. cottage grove is a beautiful place several lakes near by with several rivers. Lakes would be Cottage Grove Res. and Dorena Res. getting to the deeper mountains wouldnt be hard. and the coast isnt too far. cottage grove area is set in a mountain type back drop with hills. eugene/springfield is approximately 15-20 minutes north. there is another smaller town bout 10 minutes north of cottage grove by the name of Creswell. Roseburg oregon is about 45 minute drive south of cottage grove. as i said feel free to PM me or message me on yahoo and i can see what i can do to help the locating and moving process work faster and better for you.
Sincerely,
Eric

3 bed
2 bath
no more than 900 and about 5 miles or so from the rock crick campus
17705 NW Springville Rd
Portland, OR 97229
planning on heading out that way soon to check it out we will see what happens but just some starter places to look.
Live across the river in Vancouver, WA It's an over-the-bridge drive and about 1/2 the cost of living, not to mention no income tax and far cheaper car tabs.
no joke? what about public transit and stuff you got either msn or yahoo im
No joke. OR residents are the most taxed in the Union. They have a gnarly income tax and huge cost of living. WA residents only have a sales tax and Vancouver is about 50% cheaper then Portland. They are separated only by the Columbia River and 2 bridges (I5, I205).
Do large hills that have corn fields on them count?
How about that town from Dumb & Dumber?
Aspen
thats a bit of help right there thank you for the heads up. is there like a bus system across the bridge or is it left up to me? i plan on commuting by bike at least part of the year. koldhearted1@hotmail.com is my msn messanger
Live and work in Vancouver (no income tax) and shop in Portland (no sales tax), can't be beat.
One thing to keep in mind is that it rains here a lot more than you are used to, so the bike may not look so good a lot of the year.
Come on over.
I would think that you would have no problem finding a truck driving job, sure are enough of them going down I-5.
I live in Olympia and it's very nice but the cost of housing is getting way too high. None under 200k anymore and most over 300k.
TED
ya so would someone put me up for a couple days if i came out there?
Absolutely.
nice ill have to start plannin my trip then.
