Just wanted to say "HI". I've been registered on your site for awhile but this is the first time I'm posting. Great site. I've got an 87 TC that I bought in 03 that someone started the 5.0 conversion. It spent the next 2yrs. in my garage. Almost every piece on this car has been replaced. It has the 5 lug conversion with Lincoln LSC brakes, '94 T-5 tranny, '96 Mustang "H" pipe with Flowmasters, '88 Mustang 5.0 HO motor with the A9L computer and mass air conversion. The donor car was my original 87 Sport Coupe that was t-boned. I have pictures but can't figure out how to attach them. Help?

I am curious. The "94 T-5 tranny". Is it from a GT 5.0 or 3.8?  If it is a 5.0 model be aware that it has a slightly longer input shaft and would require a 94-95 GT bellhousing to work properly. Or you could change the input shaft to a 83-93 T-5 shorter shaft. (Some disassembly required).

The 96 Mustang h-pipe will have to be reworked a little to fit a 5.0.
I hope it is a 95 or older h-pipe. Could save you a little time.;)

To answer the tranny question- it is out of a GT, tag number is F4ZR-7003-DA, 1352-246. The only change is the aluminum bellcrank. The exhaust was "re-worked" the original was a butcher job. The car is 100% operational all the way down to the climate control A/C. I've had it at a couple of small shows and only had (1) person who knew what I did to it. I don't know how to add pictures or copy a Word doc to show the amount of work.

Well first thing is to get the pictures on your computer. Once that is done sign up for a website such as photobucket. Then upload the pictures from the file you have them on you computer to the account in photobucket. Once there look under that picture and there will be a couple of links to the picture that you then can copy and paste to the future posts.

hope that helps some

Thanks for the kind words. The car mostly sits, my fiance is afraid of it, or me if something happens to it. The swap was the worst kind- it was butchered by a Ford mechanic. My 87 Sport, (original owner), was my donor car after it was T-boned. Yes, my fiance was driving. All the wiring is from the sport. All sensors, relays, are new. I also replaced everything that bolts to or runs off the engine. The only original piece is the engine block. I wanted to keep the car kind of stock looking. The only change I will eventually make is replacing the motor with Ford's 345hp 302 and maybe add a super charger. Thanks again. (Seat covers are because my fiance has a habit of spilling things).

I've been an admirer of Roger Penske for years, also a fan of Rusty Wallace. My fiance has become a fan since she started hanging around with me- NHRA & NASCAR. I don't know of any cars like this in Las Vegas and it's nice to share with people who appreciate the ammount of work that goes into one of these cars. Thanks for the kind words.

Tommy, That is a gorgeous looking car!!! Very clean engine bay!! It looks like it just rolled of the show room floor.  In 2 years, the wife, son and I will be moving to the Vegas area. She's in nursing and I'm into whatever :D  It would be nice to hang out with another Fox Bird out there, as most people I've talked to on another site (in the Vegas area), has mainly the MN-12 bird's.  Enjoy the site and particularly your beautiful car!

John

Thanks for the compliments John. Your wife will not have a problem finding work out here but housing prices have climbed out of sight. Thought about buying one of those MN-12's once, rented it for a week, drove it to San Diego, never thought about buying one again. Be glad to have you out here and we can get together. I added a couple of pictures of the motor in my 79 F-250 on that photobucket site.

Thank You. This is the motor I wanted to put in the TC but I'd never be able to smog it. The visual test might be a problem also.

tommym, we actually will be looking for some property just out of the city itself.  The guys I've talked to there in the NV chapter are a bunch of good guys. Very nice peoples indeed :)  Ya, we noticed the prices are going thru the roof   Oh well.
So how much trouble did you have getting your car thru the emission testing?? My engine won't be modified, other than possibly the intake, and I'll have cats. I'm thinking about converting it to use E-85, since I'm replacing all the fuel lines, pump and related parts anyway.
I likey the 79 P/U too :D Beautiful !!

The guy I bought the car from,(Ford Mechanic?), somehow got it smogged originally. The cert showed 4cyl and when I got the car EGR,thermactor,TAD,TAB were not connected so I would say he might have cheated. Anyway, I kept the insurance up while the car was parked but let the registration lapse. The engine is newer than the car with all smog equipment working. When I went to re-register it I just told them it was being re-built and showed them the insurance papers-no problem. To smog it the guy was confused- the car is a "W" code but he was looking at a V-8. It smogs just like a new car. I was looking at your car-quite a project. How hard is it to work with the 4.6? The electronics has got to be a nightmare. The only way I was able to figure out what the original idiot did was because I have the factory schematics and EVTM that I ordered with my Sport. I still have work I want to do-like stiffen the frame, intake, ignition and maybe in the future swap the motor out to Fords 345hp 302. I've owned enough cars that were not very streetable or legal and I was constantly working on them. The E85 conversion I know very little about. Out here it cost about .20 less than premium and I've heard you get 30% less milage. I used to run alchol injection on my 69 Roadrunner. The truck surprises alot of people and is difficult to smog but I like "different".

Did you lower it? If so, what did you do?

I hope you don't mind me adding this pic to the wheel thread.

The car is about 1 1/2" lower than my Sport. This was done by the original owner. Rides like my truck but I like it. It's low enough that I have to be careful on driveways. Setting as low as it is the exhaust makes a good sound system unnecessary. I installed KYB Struts and Monroe Gas Magnum shocks and dampners. It has no lean in the corners and the F-1's do not slide. No problem with the picture.

The wifey wants me to "Talk" to people that have already done the E-85 conversion to get "Real Life" info instead of reading all the info I can from the web.  As far as electronics go, I've been going back and forth between running a carb and an Ignition control moduel, that would simplify the process quite a bit, and running a 94 - 95 T-bird harness with a reprogrammed computer. I also have a friend that's the service manager at the local Lincoln/Mercury dealership and he gave a copy of the engine wiring and related systems that I'll need. He's also trying to locat some C O P's and their valve covers.  I hope to have it running by next spring. Maybe not the interior done, but at least be able to drive it around a bit.

Hi John- How would using a carb on a new style motor in an older car look for smog? I'm pretty sure Ford was going to make their 5.0 Cammer motor available with a carb setup. I'm pretty sure it's an 11 1/2 to 1 motor based on the 4.6. I doubt if you would want to drive it around here, in traffic, during the summer. Smogging the truck is a  shoot. Just went through it. Took 3 trys. It would never pass the visual check in San Diego, (my former home). The former motor in the truck was a 351, balanced, 30 over, 58cc Australian heads, 750 Holly, and the cooling system from Hell and I would have to pull off the road and shut it off if I was stopped in traffic. The motor in the pictures is a 400, tons of fancy headwork, 30 over, block cut 90, intake cut to match, forged pistons, rods, balanced, TCI kitted C-6 with 373 gears. It doesn't like traffic either but Loves premium gas. It does not have to look good to be quick.

Tommy, I found an outlet for an aluminum triple pass radiator. I was figuring that with using the triple pass rad/ mezier electric water pump/ dual variable speed puller fans with shroud, it should take care of the heat issue.
It will definitly be a challenge to get that setup to pass the visual inspection. If I go that route, I plan on using stand-alone wideban o2sensors so I can keep an eye on the A/F ratio. Quick Fuel Technology has a 750 cfm, E-85 performance carb. I'm going to check it out to get the specifics about it.  Can't hurt to look, 105-octane ............. hmmmmmm

Uhhh, checked out that Quick fuel carb......... WAY too expensive right now. It check's in at $750. I think I'll get myself a 96' - 98' stock cobra intake and go that route.  The wife wanted to know approximately how much going the carb route would be, carb $750; Sullivan intake $650 - $700; C style heads (good used set)approx $600; that's not counting head gaskets, bolts, some other misc items. :( Might be easier, but not cheaper.
