Title: Dent Repair
Post by: Ether947 on March 09, 2007, 01:46:16 PM
Is there an easy way to repair the dent in this pic?

I did a search and most said that Paintless Dent Removal from a body shop was the way to go. But that DIYer in me, is curious if one of those "too good to be true" devices work.

Thanks,

Antonio

Well it's in a hard spot to get to.  Can you get behind it at all from the trunk?

Yeah, go paintless dent repair. Shouldn't cost more than $130.

Those pops-a-dent plunger things don't work. You might have some luck hammering it out but it ain't gonna be purdy.

Pop-a-dent things are good for a flat area with a big dent. You get into curves like that and it's a disaster.

I guess there's only one way to find out, with paintless dent removal. That is a very tricky spot though. Like Chuck said, if it can be reached through the trunk then it can be popped out from the inside.

Get one of those DIY paintless dent remover kits like walmart sells for 20.00 ive had good luck getting dents out of compound curves like that with them as long as there are no sharp creases in the metal (wich yours look alright)

if nothing above works, consider drilling a hole thru the trunk and stick a pick-rod thru and push it out as best you can.  Then seal the trunk hole back up.  my 2 cents.

Bad damaged area!!!, there are a shock tower just behind here, and trunk reinforcement here, If You unable to push the bumped area with a piece of 2x4 cutted in angle, and a hammer, I agree with HAVI to pull out, but You will need to reface the fender after this, but with the time and PATIENCE I'll guess You will able to push by the trunk, with some wood pieces, and pry out the panel...

Dom.
