Step 1: Wash car
Step 2: Scrub moldings with watered-down Simple Green (2:1)
Step 3: Re-Wash moldings
Step 4: Mother's Back-to-Black the moldings

I've used a quick squirt of 50/50 bleach and water prior to washing it too...

What color is the XR7? Using Back-to-Black may not be a good idea, as the molding on the '88 XR7 is painted body color; not black plastic.
My red '88 XR7 had mold and growth in the side trim when I bought it. I got some Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax and about a million terry cloth towels. Yeah, it took a few hours.
That's how I got rid of it...
