Fred & Earls Express is just as bad. Stick to the postal service. Yeah, they suck too, but it's a gov't agency, you expect that out of them.

Once UPS lost a package from a company I worked for... showed a signature for it and swore delivery. Customer denied recieving it.
One year later package was returned by a company friend whose friend found it along side... the railroad tracks less than 100 miles from the factory.

DHL is great.  I've never sent anything with them, but everything I receive through them is amazingly fast, and the tracking system actually shows more than just "we have your stuff" that USPS and UPS seem to show for me.

Not a big fan of UPS. I have found that they are the most expensive carrier and not all that fast. And they don't have that many locations either. Their tracking system is ok. I tend to get a lot of error messages from them though.

FedEx isn't that great either, but their prices are fair and shipping is decent. Middle of the road. And since they merged with Kinkos, finding one is pretty easy. Shipping from a FedEx facility absolutely sucks! Never ever ever, go in there during Lunch or after work. Tracking is sometimes spotty, but taking into account of the overall volume of packages I recieve through them it's pretty good.

DHL is great receiving wise, but I can never find an facility to ship from. Tracking seems to be up to date whenever I check too. I have very little experience shipping with them.

And there's the USPS. Slow as all hell, both shipping wise and just standing in line. I dread going to the Post Office.... especially around the holidays. But they are the cheapest... usually. And they deliver on Saturdays. And the only way to ship across the border. But their tracking system is border lining uselessness. It's a waste of money IMO.

So here's how I'd rank them (I terms of shipping):

FedEx
USPS
DHL
UPS

Good buttstuffysis - I personally would move USPS below DHL. The low cost doesn't offset the non-existent tracking, ultra-slow delivery (up to TWO weeks!) and the two times they destroyed a package of mine and wouldn't pay even though it was insured. The local people who work there are really gruff jerks too, so I have some issues with USPS.

I used to work for UPS for about a month unloading and loading the semi trucks. THEY FORCED ME TO STAND UP ON TOP OF BOXES to get other boxes. You wouldn't believe how many computers and tvs get sent ups ground.  I STOOD ON TOP OF THOSE BOXES!! Couple times I have had the computers fall out of the dell boxes. We just grabbed tape and taped it back together. They forced us to go sooo fast unloading that I was basically throwing shiznit around just to keep up with time.

Basically everything is thrown into the back of the truck usually with no order and stuff that is small sits under large stuff. It's crazy. The job sucked and was bad on the back since you never had the time to bend and swoop correctly. I had to go balls to the wall for 5 hours. F that.

Then those f'ers still haven't paid me. It's been since last August-September. They said I cashed the check but never received it. wtf. I'm still fighting that too.

F UPS!

Screw UPS (as I'm sure Thunder chicken and all others north of the boarder agree) as we get screwed with brokerages fees of about $100 on every item we order off ebay!!!

I always use USPS / Canada Post.  That or have items shipped to a friend in Warroad Mn, and drive south to pick up the goods and bring them across the "border" myself.

ditto on ups, they realy suck balls. they used to be okay. i dont know what happned. i wont ship ups unless someone asks for it or if the item is on the heavy side or large. either way id prefer fed x for those but theres no place to drop em off here and its a pain to have them pick up. ups has left beat up packages plenty of times, they way overcharge now-a-days, and the drivers are lazy. they have left packages in the rain because they didnt want to take a few extra steps and put it on the porch. luckily it wasnt anything rain coulddamage. ive never claimed anything through them though

i have received stuff from dhl and have no complaints.

i generally use usps. ive never had a package lost, destroyed etc and the rates are fair. plus the girl at the local post office is realy hot. lines are always short if there is even is one. i live in a small town though. usps priority 2-3 (or is it 3-4 day) is tough to beat. ive never been dissapointed.

If I were ultra rich,I would deliver myself. Then,I'd get to meet everyone here in person, nice scenery while driving, and plenty of fresh air, plus, the added bonus of not having to deal with those freaks.I had two e-mails today from two E-Bay members who hadn't recieved their packages yet (itms bought from me),and I had to opologize and explain that they were sent, and as soon as I handed them the package and left the building,it was totallt out of my hands.Ironically, the two packages that haven't been recieved were the only two of 11 that I let them package.I did the rest myself.

If it's any consolation, Vinnie, like I told you before... the 80lb box of goodies you sent me via UPS arrived with only one minor casualty... one of the mounting ears was busted off the MAP sensor... which is really a non-issue.

Oh,one more thing.Brian, when I sent the fuel linwes seperately, they charged me somewhere around $35 or $40 dollars. The screwed me there. They said they had to charge for a larger size to ship it.I've sent larger for less. They really need to apply some Chapstick and get their lips real soft so they can kiss my a$$.
