As of February 1, 2007 the state of Illinois no longer requires emissions tests for all cars model year 1995 and older (ie non OBD II compliant cars). Catless 2.5" H pipe here I come :D
It's like that in Missouri too, but not until September.
I wonder how much I could score a NASCAR engine for?
there are a few counties in Ohio that require you to get your vehicle e-checked every other year and I happen to live in one of them.but this will be the last year i have to get the t-bird checked (1983).after its 25 years old,you no longer need to do it.
As soon as I get it checked (I hope I pass) I will be removing all the smog and the cataletic converters from it...........woooo hoooo
lucky!
PHHH had one on my car since well 98. LOL. Down in the souther part of the state we don't have emmisions testing at all.
I've had a 2.5" catless h-pipe for almost 3 years and we do require testing. I wonder why my car never passes...
That's great news for you. It would be nice if MD would do that but oh well. Every year, they were supposed to eliminate one years worth of cars to be included in their testing. I heard this ~1995 when they stopped testing cars from '76. So the plan was that today, they'd be testing cars 1988 and up.
Well, they didn't follow that plan. They test all cars 1977 and up.
We don't test anything :D
You easterners don't even have the dreaded transport Canada safety inspections? Lucky!!
im not worried about emissions at all, here in jersey its pretty strict unless you get a collectors car voucher.
i inspected my car back in july and it passed emissions standards for a 2002 vehicle of the same weight class... and at the time my egr wasn't function properly and my fuel pressure is set to 42psi. so i must be dong something right. i later found out i had a cracked line going to the egr soliniod but afte ri repair it it just lowered the NOX even more but the hc went up a few ppm..
BTW i was using my dyno (emmissions dyno) durning this to see its the NJ 5015 test, 50seconds at 15mph
Actually, we do have safety inspections in the maritimes - in fact, they just got more strict as of Feb 1. I actually agree with those inspections, though. It's emissions testing we don't have. Newfoundland doesn't have safety inspections though - the car is inspected once when it changes hands, then it's good to go until it falls apart
Aint no guvment touch'n mah cah herr
Is that English?? I type bad, and thats horrid!
Yeah the only part of Illinois that tests is the Chicago metro area. So now those of us with pre 95 cars are just like the rest of the state:hick:
tsk, tsk, you guys better hope Al Gore never sees all of this!! haha...
I'm lucky enough not to hafta test, either. Have fun thunderjet!!
Not too bad here...
No emissions, no visual checks for emissions equipment (well, if you know where to go), no front license plates...
Now if they would just let me run 20% tint on my windows instead of 35%, I'd be happy as a lark. Or something.
I'm pretty sure that as of last December you could get Antique Vehicle tags on a car in Maryland if it was 20 years or older. With Antique tags you don't need an emissions test or safety inspection. You aren't supposed to use the vehicle as a daily driver however.
Thunderjet302, the only thing about our E testing now, is that your car has to have a current (pre Feb 07') cert to be exempt from future testings. Man!!! I wished I had a current cert for my car. Oh well, I suppose I'll have to get it tested. I should call and ask.
