Title: Rear swaybars
Post by: TucanSam on February 18, 2007, 04:16:57 PM
I thought I saw a thread on rear swaybar sizes but I cant find it now.

Is this correct:

My 86TC has a 1 1/16 rear sway bar.

I have a 96 Mustang GT bar, it looks like it is 1 3/16ish, it may be metric, but my calipers read out in 32s.

Rear bars are not that big.

Stock Tbird ones are 19-21mm.

SN-95 V8 Mustang ones are in the neighborhood of 24-27mm.

OK, so I need to learn how to read my own calipers.  Upon further review it looks like 13/16 for the TC bar and 15/16 for the 96 GT bar, give or take 1/32 because I think the measurements are actually metric.

I was going to swap out the TC bar for the GT bar, but for a DD I dont see that it will make any difference as they are pretty close in size.

Hehe.
Yes, the measurements are metric.

You may notice a little difference with the larger bar, but since I don't think you increased your front roll stiffness any, it's kind of a toss-up.
