i have a 85 base bird that i would like to switch to disk brakes but i am not sure what needs to be done-help ! thanks
Quick and sorta easy answer is..... Get a 87-88 T/c rear. It has both trac-loc and better gears on top of being an 8.8" and having disk brakes
LOOK in the tec section, you will find some knowledge.
Welcome to the board!
Might as well go for the 5 lug too! I did the swap on my 84 bird using machined front rotors and a lincoln mark vii rear end. The lincoln rear is alot easier to find. Just don't plan on using the e-brake with it.
For the front rotors I bought them from Complete Brake Services. Excellent quality and it came with everything i needed right down to the wheel bearings and dust cap. However you'll need a new cotter pin.
Also you should post up some pics of your ride!
Anyway, here's the info you want. http://www.coolcats.net/tech/ (http://"http://www.coolcats.net/tech/")
Just about anything you can think of is in there.
Welcome aboard, and we are picture hungry, some just get down right mean if they don't get there pic fix. lol
I like your profile... "would get ride of wife before t-bird". That's the greatest! You definitly belong here. Pull up a seat and enjoy.
