1983 Kawasaki KZ550 LTD.

The bike was given to me by my aunt, who was tired of having to tinker with an older bike. She bought a 2001 Suzuki Intruder and didnt have time for two bikes, so she gave this one to me.

This thing needs a lot of work, its dirty, all the chrome is pitted, lot of paint damage on things like the fork and brackets, frame sections, and things like that. The carbs are off of the bike, all the ignition disconnected, and tons of odds and ends. I figure if i mess with it during the spring time, i can get it running rather well, get it shined up, and have a decent cruiser.

i like the older metric bikes. Last winter i picked up a 1973 honda cl350 k5 for 30 dollars got it running the next day on one cylinder, 200 later, im almost done with the body work, rebuilt both carbs, almost fixed the electric start, and painted the motor and frame. Wish i could show some pics, the bike is temporarily at my dads in wv, and all old pics i had got lost with my old hard drive, i wish you luck with it, they sound real nice with straight pipes too

Im not a straight pipe fan on motorcycles. I might pick up a spare set of pipes off of ebay, and drill the baffles. Other than that, itll stay stock.

I cut the gay looking stock lers off my 350 omg it sounds like a harley, but i bought a 170 ler that looks sooo much better and my dad is gonna heliarc (sp?) another removable  on it, cause my bike had one weld on and one slip on ler so the new one is one unit but the same deal so its gonna be made into a complete slip on, for when i need to be quite, and off for when i just want to hear it roar. When i get to mess with it again ill get a exhaust clip i love the way it sounds.

Thats what i bought thats the same colors and everything, but now mines metallic blue, with a metallic silver stripe, and black pin striping on each side of the stripe. And the bottom of the motor is silver, the jugs are black. I think its a cool looking bike, my friends think its ugly though.

Nice run-on.  Lol breathe much?

That's a pretty nifty little bike right there.  I really want to get a bike as an alternate source of travel since I'm outting way too many miles on the T/A  too fast.  PLus bikes are a litle more forgiving in the fuel economy situation.

Well son you’re a little behind then.  At your age I was smashing away at the keyboard 60+ words a minute with ninety something percent accuracy.

I have a Yamaha YX600 Radian. Great little bike. Quick enough with great gas economy. Like the colors on yours too.

Im a huge fan of the KZ series, theyre a very comfortable bike, and well balanced. Shame itll be a while before i ride this one.

The bike looks small in pictures, but its actually a good sized bike. Itll do me well.
