Title: dead lighter
Post by: Autocat on January 29, 2007, 07:29:56 AM
ok well, for about a month now my lighter has been out.  i thought it was b/c i was in the slow process of wiring my stereo (got everything ran, everything installed properly, sounds good, no feedback or interfierence... anttenna seems weak tho) that since the ground to the radio wasnt installed and would arc on metal that it also was somehow tied into the lighter.  well i must have been wrong b/c after i installed the radio, the lighter still doesnt work.  at the same time (although it was 17 degrees this morning and no warning "lamp out" light) the left blinker arrow in the dash wasnt working.  is there a fuse that i need to replace?  There is a chance with all the wiring i had to push in for the radio i might have pushed something loose.  but the lighter still isnt working.  i might buy a new one (this will be my second replacement.  the oem lighter came out with the cigar button one day, then replced it..  the lighter button doesnt fit after i put in my cellphone charger in) would you guys say the wiring on the back of the lighter has come loose?  not grounded correctly? ideas?

Your best bet is to check to see if it's getting power.  Probably had the plug pop off the back.  If it's not getting power, then check your fuses.

Fuse 10 is for the lighter and the horn.
Does the horn work?

well, i used the horn the other day when a prick in a lexus dove infront of me in traffic so the horn works, but the lighter doesnt.  if this helps, my heater cut off on my tonight.  i had just turned off my stereo and i see the numbers blinking (i got the electronic thermostat type) but the lights on the buttons didnt blink, but it blew cold air.  i went into the store, came back out and the heater started blowing hot air again.  i've never seen that before.  im ganna investigate the lighter, might be just as simple as the wire comin loose.  when i get through these 2 electronic classes i should be able to troubleshoot the tnire car for electronic issues.  so in 6 weeks i think i can get all this electronic shiznit out of the way.
