Title: Aftermarket floor shifters
Post by: thunderjet302 on January 23, 2007, 10:35:26 PM
So I recently installed a full console as part of my winter storage project (see here: http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=12136 ) and I have a question about floor shifters. Are there any aftermarket auto trans floor shifters that will fit in the area occupied by the "change holder" infront of the console switch plate? I know I could use a factory floor shifter but I like alot of the B&M and Hurst auto shifters (weird because I rarely like anything other than stock style stuff on a car). I would like to put one in but only if I don't have to hack the hell out of a console to do so. I don't mind hacking the floor shifter plate or "change holder" plate but screwing with the switch plate is out of the question. In other words I want to make it look almost factory. So has anyone done this and if so do you have any pics :D ?

B&M Hammer shifter should work in the factory shifter plate hole.It needs the AOD kit for the tranny lever to hook it up.

Not to jump on the post, but, does a B+M shifter fit between the shiznit connselet+ and the ash tray.I've been lookin for that answer for awhile.I searched to no avail.I might be off here though if you got the full console I do believe you can use the console shifter from B+M that fits the stangs with the aod.

The Hammer shifter fits in the same hole that the Mustang AOD shifter fits in.We put one in my friend's Stang some time ago.We had to buy the lever from B&M that replaces the factory shift lever on the tranny (requires dropping the pan).I'm sure one could rig it,but we wanted it done right the first time.

Hmm I'll look into the B&M Hammer for the Mustang. It will probably end up being next winters project. I need something to keep me busy while the car is in storage and I can't drive it for 5 months:hick: .

I THINK they run about $180.00 or so,plus another $25-30 for the lever for the tranny.

I was wondering the same thing on my t-bird.I have a very nice interior and dont want to hack the console. But I have a c-6 tranny in mine and now the shifter (factory) doesnt line up. A ratchet shifter would be sweet,I looked at hurst promatic2 but looks to big to fit in console.I will watch this thread for Ideas. Sorry!!!!!!!!!!
