hey guys i wanna take off my ac compressor and have everything else running. My question is what is the size of the serpentine belt for it , the engine is a 5.0 so . let me know thanks
you can't do this without moving the power steering pump. if you try it without moving the p/s pump, the belt will rub itself. at the bottom of the tensioner. best to 1. get an a/c delete pulley. 2. move the power steering pump up. i believe there's a bracket or something for that, but i'm not 100% sure.
Ford Racing makes a kit to relocate the power steering pump up where the a/c compressor was. The problem is, it's designed for a Mustang 5.0 so you MUST have the Mustang-style power steering pump bracket (1986-93). Also, March makes a kit to do roughly the same. They also make the a/c delete pulley kit. Again, with either March kit I believe you have to have the Mustang p/s bracket.
But once you do that...with the Ford Racing kit you should use around an 86" belt, IIRC.
ok thanks alot guys
Both the Ford kit and the March kit require you to use a Mustang power steering bracket. The advantage of the Ford kit is that it totally removes a pulley from the system where the March kit replaces the A/C compressor with another pulley. Dayco part# 5060875 works with the Ford kit.
Ah, 87.5", thanks Pauly. I've had so ed many combinations under my hood that I can't remember what works with what. ;)
Stock Cougar/T-Bird 5.0 belt with a/c, p/s and smog pump: 93"
Stock Mustang 5.0 belt with a/c, p/s and smog pump: 91.5"
That's all I remember LOL.
