Been thinking about ditching my cloth seats for leather. What sort of donors are there? Lincoln MK 7 seats are pretty sweet and I'm reasonably sure the front ones would bolt in...what about the back?
The fronts will but I'm not sure about the back. The back seats look very similar to the ones in our cars. Only way to know is to try it :D
i belive our seats are wider then those found in mustangs
Mk 7 seats will fit (front and rear). The rear backs are a little tight in a Tbird, but they do fit. Had one in one of the '83's for a while.
Excellent. Now the task is finding some uncracked seats.
All Mustang front seats will bolt to your tracks as well....
I thought they would. They look very similar to the T-bird/Cougar back seats.
The seats from the old Escort GT's will also fit.I had a set of halo seats from one in my other Bird a few years ago.
Tbird seats are awful :barf: ....The front seats from a 90's explorer will also fit, that's what I'm rolling with. They're very supportive to your back and comfortable. (I think rangers of that same era have the same/similar seats.) I did have to cut off the center console from the old Tbird driver seat and then weld it on to the explorer driver seat. I switched the electric track from my old seats to my new ones and it was virtually a perfect swap, except that I had to thread two holes (that were already on the explorer seat) to accept the bolts securing the track to the seat, and cut off a supporting bracket under the explorer seats. I've been procrastinating on getting them reuphostered to match the rest of my interior--they're gray and my interior is blue.
Seats from a 79 Mustang Pace car...

They arent the best... but they hold on to you. =]
Are there netted-halo headrest Recaros hiding under those set overs?
nah, they are just strait-back seats. Blue with a odd kinda mini plaid design on em.

not that bad looking... just a fugly blue color.
Then they aren't "Pace Car" seats... ; )
This is a Pace Car seat

Alright. but the car had the "pace car" paper under the dash from the factory.
Meh, the car is long gone.. and the seats will be too.. eventually.
Thanks for pointing that out Chuck.
I have the factory Fila seats in mine. I guess they are either a T/c seat or Stang' seat. They are wrapped in factory white leather, now cracked and cut and torn. Sorry I don't have a direct picture

Aside from the white leather and embossing, the Fila seats are the same as the rest of the Tbird/Mustang "sport" seats.
87thunderbirdBlackJack - It's possible that the car was a Pace Car...but your seats aren't the original seats if it was.
Sport seats? All I know is that they are the power seats
sport being as the only thing you have up on a base 5.0 bird.
Mine came rom a Turbo Coupe. They are the Ravon seats with power lumbar, adjustable side bolsters, map pockets in the back, and the front pull-out support things(whatever they're called).Gott 'em for $150.oo shipped. Not a bad deal.No tears or anything.
Thats all the stuff mine has.
I meant "sport" as just a descriptor...not a trim level or model.
The TC seats, Mustang seats the Fila seats, etc. All the same type.
Like this...

Nice. I know what kind of chair I want for my computer now. I also undertand about my seats. Thanks chuck.
Hey Chuck,my seats have the headrests that go up and down, and pivot forward.I have a chair for my desk as well.I made it from a dark blue Turbo Coupe seat about 7 years ago.It was the only part of the car that was like new (odd),I bought it for 410.00 and didn't know what to do with it.About a year later it hit me.....office chair.Actually pretty easy to do.I did make one modification.I pulled the upper seat cover up,removed the padding and the lumbar bladder and added a heater/back massager.Nice.It's still mint.I don't use it much.Good thinking my friend.Great minds think alike.
