I bought the car off a buddy who bought the car after seeing it on Ebay, then decided the next day he didn't want it.. a guy in Michigan had it.
Was a V6 LS, but someone swapped in a 2.3L turbo/T5 and 3.73 posi rear. Has a full interior from an 85 or 6 Turbo Coupe as well. The swap was done really nice except the engine wiring being a real mess, some of the sensors weren't even working. The more I pulled back the conduit, the worse it got [wires sort of hanging, stuff half assed soldered] so I yanked the engine harness and put one in from a Merkur XR4.. Not a whole lot done.. an Aeromotive regulator, Turbonetics boost controller, cone filter and exhaust and it has an N/A head which bumps the compression some.
I've only had one race so far... a 4.6 Stang GT convertible [99-04 era] that had exhaust and gears and it was door to door. I put maybe a bumper length on him by 70 MPH where we let off. Going to add a ported ex manifold, front mount intercooler and 3" exhaust elbow and downpipe soon. It's clean for the most part actually. There is a real tiny hoole in the front drivers floor pan, but real nice everywhere else. Always loved the looks of the Fox Cougars and finally got one.. with the engines I like to boot :D

I agree... they should have made the XR7 the exact same as my car. I think someone else thought so too.. cause some guy out there somewhere built mine.
right, what the heck.
i totaly remember that on ebay. sweet car...
Hey do any of you guys have the old Ebay link, or any info as to what all the description said??? I'd love to know...
sweet cougar man that thing is clean
yes yes, super clean black, ahh turbo sweet, i would have bought a cougar if the 87-88's had the 2.3l!
Looks pretty sweet man. I see your ECU shares the same location as mine...lol. I had the dash out twice and still never put it where it belongs. :hick:
Car looks good on those rims. I have the same rims that i am going to put on my 86 xr7 after i do the 5 lug swap
That is one cool machine.
I'm surprised to see that it has the v-belt setup, like my engine. I'm assume that it was an '85-'86 engine with '87-'88 intercooler/computer upgrade?
Keep us posted on its progress.
Very nice paint job.
