hello all. finally got a chance to check in after a few months absence. all is well here...just the occasional bomb every now and then. Anyways the tbird is safely tucked away till i get back. supposed to be back in texas around jan. 16th for leave so she'll get a little TLC then. Thought i'd share the future plans for her when i get back. im going with a DSS built 347, BBK SSI intake, shorty headers, and probably going to swap out my 3.27s for some 3.73's.
Seriously considering a procharger on top, but looking to keep it streetworthy and gas pump friendly as well. I'll take any advice on that if someone is knowledgeable in that area. Hope everyone here is doing well. Later ya'll.
That quote is sigworthy.....
Glad you are OK! seems you have some serious plans about the T-bird. 347 with a Procharger, yeeeees!!!!
You be safe over there Godbless you.
So what do you do over there?
And keep yourself out of as much trouble as possible!
you got an ASR yet,, i tried to have mine setup a month in advance. Keep your head down and if you see any Mantech route clearance guys(buffalo/RG31/Huskey/MeerKat) then say hi for me.
Are you guys doing the RPG cages? Ramadi was the first fob to evaluate and deploy them.
Dont worry bout the bird, it will be there when you get home,, and congrads on you leave your taking!!!
MAN! are those 03's on your bird? and if you do the SSI ket me know how that goes, that is the intake i want(along with my 03's)
And Thanks for Being overthere.
Run silent. Run deep. Get home in one piece!!
Thanks for being there.
Stay safe.
Thank-you and good luck! Kick some A$$!
Hey stay safe, enjoy your leave, and I hope you guys get out of there soon...
Where are you at in Iraq? I was In Sammarra for a year.
Keef Halek. Hope all is well and safe. I don't know what you all do over there to pass the time these days, but hope it goes quick. When I was there it was my gameboy w/supermario 3 and an An/Tas-4 nightsight. Rock on.
Thank you for serving our country. Hope you stay safe and return home to enjoy your family, friends, and your T-Bird! Got any more photos of your Bird? Alan
I'm in charge of a maintenace team for the M1A2 SEP tanks that we have. Lately though we've been doing more maintenance on the hmmwv's than the tanks because they rack up so many miles patrolling the msr roads around here. But in any case it's not that bad...were very close to Sammarra and the city of Ishaki.
i see the route clearance guys alot....those guys are definatly helping us out over here. They find alot of roadside bombs before they go off and take care of them in the process. We don't do the RPG cages...that's taken care of at another FOB...were situated further north. We actually have an RG31 assigned to our company that they use on a daily basis.
Yep those are 03's. I read alot of reviews on that intake and it seems like it will work well with the 347. I also like how it doesn't shroud the driver's side valve cover and the fact that it tucks the egr valve in the back outta the way.
i know that thing bumper to bumper,, i tried to convince the 223rd and the 54th to put presureon south africa to supply the blast shields that are suppose to be on the transfer case, power steering and transmission. Ramadi Motor pool supplied me with some armox and i welded up and duplicated the original design since BAE wont do it.
those stupid air tanks are in totally the wrong place to. Ive had to on a zillion cases brass weld holes from IED blasts as well as fix those stainless lines in the same manner.
when you start having AC problems and no one can figure it out,, leme know,, i cyphered this common problem to be a connector just behind the operator seat and along the hull (ie- where you would usually stow your weapon) ,,or something called the PEG switch just behind the operator in the big grey box.
I have a ton of data on how things wire up because at the time, there was no technical pubs out yet.
oh,, another thing,, when your having lighting issues,, dont let motor pool stuff in a hum v bulb. that was my most common problem and it resulted in funky stuff.
DId they ever finally get the 300amp alternators out to you guys i ordered for the whole theater?
Those blast sheilds on the Transfer case PS and Tranny are EXTREEMLY useful. I saw quite a few that would have actually been able to roll out of the kill zone if those parts had been protected. The actual damage wasnt that bad, but as you know when you crack ANY of the major components under there, they simply PUKE fluid. And of course on the MSR, that means you aint going very far. I was with Cco. 1-128 In out of Wisconsin here. We did a lot of boots on the grouind Patrolling/Raiding In and around Samarra. We also did route clearance from Tikrit to LSA Anaconda. A lot of blows up along that stretch of paved hell. Watch you ass out there, and make it home safe.
Your not kidding about the MSR. We have done countless recovery missions with our M88A2 because of vehicles breaking down. But it helps break the monotony of things. The beauty of being a mechanic is i keep my ass in the vehicle. Nothing against the infantry guys but they can have all that walking . I hook up to whoever is broke and im outta there.
i bet youll have it before me so let me know how it works out.
Thanks for your service to our Country!
Kick ass for us!
To all my fellow Veterans..............Thanks!
